I Have Met the Lord Jesus Coming With a “Cloud”

By Zhen’ai, Canada

In 2015, I accepted the Lord Jesus’ gospel when I worked in Canada. I remember it was my first time to go to the church for meetings, and the brothers and sisters greeted me warmly and shook my hand, which made me feel very warm. Especially when pastors preached that the Lord Jesus was nailed to the cross for the sake of rescuing mankind from the hands of Satan, I was moved by the Lord Jesus’ love and effort for man. And then I thought I was so blessed to believe in the Lord, so I was determined to follow Him all my life. From then on, I went to church to attend Sunday worship service every week, went to Sunday school, read the Bible, and was baptized after half a year.

Time passes quickly. Disasters all around the world are getting bigger and bigger. We all felt the day of the Lord was near. And pastors often told us: “‘This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven’ (Acts 1:11). The Lord Jesus left on clouds, so He will return on clouds then. This is the promise that the Lord gave us. It won’t change. We will be raptured into the kingdom of heaven when He returns. So we should be constantly watchful and waiting.” I was taking the words of pastors to heart and waiting for the Lord to descend upon the clouds to take us into the kingdom of heaven.

A Movie Line Helps Me Learn to Seek Humbly

By Mu Yi

God’s overflowing love is freely bestowed upon man and surrounds man; man is innocent and pure, unencumbered and carefree, blissfully living under God’s eye. … But as a person with a conscience and sense of humanity, you would feel differently. You would feel warmth, you would feel cared for and loved, and you would feel happiness” (“How Important God’s Love for Man Is” in Follow the Lamb and Sing New Songs). Every time when I hear this hymn of God’s words, I’m always touched by it. I once strayed from God and resisted God. I, just like a lost lamb, couldn’t find the way home. It is God’s great love that has brought me back to His family. I would like to share my experience of returning to God’s family with brothers and sisters in the Lord and friends who have yet to return to God.

Because my parents always quarreled when I was young, I lived in fear every day. I felt that my life had no meaning, but I feared death, not knowing why we exist or why we die; yet somehow I felt that there is a pair of hands supporting me to live on.

Christian Testimony: How to Get Rid of Anger

By Su Xing, Taiwan

“You believe in the Lord and yet you lose your temper at the drop of a hat. Why haven’t you changed at all?” This was my husband’s rebuke to me. I used to feel such distress that I was unable to live out the Lord’s teachings, and I often implored the Lord to lead me to cast off the bonds of sin. During my search, I heard the utterances of the second coming of the Lord, and I finally found the path to resolve my anger. I’d like now to tell you all about my experiences.

I Live in Sin, Powerless to Free Myself

In my daily life, I lived constantly within a cycle of sinning and confessing. For example, one time, because my child was too fond of playing and was too sloppy with his schoolwork, I grew angry and scolded him. My husband couldn’t stand by and watch me scolding him in such a way, so he criticized me for it. I didn’t accept what he said, so we got into an argument. This kind of scene became a regular occurrence, and every time my temper cooled after an outburst, I would feel very distressed and would reproach myself, especially when I thought of the verses: “Be you holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16), and “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). The Lord is holy and yet I always lived in sin. I couldn’t stop myself from losing my temper and I couldn’t get along peacefully with other people, so how could I possibly delight the Lord?

In order to bring about some change in myself, I strengthened my spiritual devotions, I read the Bible and prayed more, I attended gatherings with more zeal, and I would actively participate in every church service, but I still couldn’t resolve the issue of my fiery temper, and so I felt lost and disheartened. I often thought: The pastor says that, once we believe in the Lord and we pray and repent, then the Lord forgives our sins and we are made anew. So how come I don’t feel as though I have a new life, but instead just constantly commit sin, my spirit becoming ever darker, and I can’t feel the Lord beside me? And so, I often prayed to the Lord in tears: “O Lord! I can never control my anger and I cannot free myself from the bonds of sin. I ask You, Lord, to guide me to cast off sin.”

I Understand the Root Cause of Sin

One day in June, I met Sister Weiwei and Brother Kevin. They were both pious Christians, and we often gathered together to fellowship on the Bible. Their fellowships were filled with light and I found them to be highly beneficial. I also told them of my pain at living in sin and being powerless to free myself from it. One time, Brother Kevin said cheerfully to me, “The Lord Jesus whom we have yearned for has returned, and on the foundation of His work in the Age of Grace, He is performing the work of judgment through words. Only by keeping up with God’s new work can we obtain the supply of the water of life.” When I heard that the Lord had returned, I felt both happy and excited. I tripped over myself to ask the brother: “You said the Lord has returned—can it be true?”

Brother Kevin said, “It is indeed true. He has returned in the last days to save us utterly from sin and to enable us to be free of this painful life of sinning and confessing. It fulfills precisely this biblical prophecy: “‘So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and to them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin to salvation’” (Hebrews 9:28). As we all know, the first incarnation of God performed the work of redeeming mankind and our sins were forgiven by the Lord. What is undeniable, however, is that we still continually commit sin and that we know perfectly well what the Lord requires of us, and yet we are very rarely able to put it into practice, and we live bound by sin. And what exactly is the reason for this?”

I had always been confused about this and was never able to work it out. I really wanted to understand, and so I listened in earnest as Brother Kevin went on with his fellowship.

Then the brother sent me two passages of God’s words, “At the time Jesus’ work was the redemption of all mankind. The sins of all who believed in Him were forgiven; as long as you believed in Him, He would redeem you; if you believed in Him, you were no longer a sinner, you were relieved of your sins. This is what it meant to be saved, and to be justified by faith. Yet in those who believed, there remained that which was rebellious and opposed God, and which still had to be slowly removed. Salvation did not mean man had been completely gained by Jesus, but that man was no longer of sin, that he had been forgiven his sins: Provided you believed, you would never more be of sin.” “For all that man may have been redeemed and forgiven of his sins, it can only be considered as God not remembering the transgressions of man and not treating man in accordance with his transgressions. However, when man, who lives in a body of flesh, has not been set free from sin, he can only continue to sin, endlessly revealing his corrupt satanic disposition. This is the life that man leads, an endless cycle of sinning and being forgiven. The majority of men sin in the day only to confess in the evening. This way, even if the sin offering is forever effective for man, it will not be able to save man from sin. Only half the work of salvation has been completed, for man still has a corrupt disposition.

Brother Kevin gave fellowship, saying, “God’s words are very clear. The work performed by the Lord Jesus was the work of redemption, and as long as we accept the Lord Jesus as our Savior and we pray and repent to the Lord, then our sins shall be forgiven, and by our faith are we justified. We are then no longer sinful, but this does not mean that we no longer commit sin, for it is because our sinful nature still exists that we live within this cycle of sinning and confessing and are constantly unable to free ourselves from the bonds of sin. Under the domination of our satanic nature, we often reveal corrupt dispositions, such as being arrogant and conceited, selfish and contemptible, lying and cheating and being wicked and greedy, and so on. When others do things that we do not agree with, we lecture them condescendingly and we harm them, so that not one family is able to live in peace and harmony together. We scheme against each other for the sake of our own interests, we strive and struggle against each other, and friends become enemies. In order to safeguard our own prestige, we often lie and cheat. Though we may appear on the outside to expend ourselves and to give things up in our faith in God, we actually harbor no true love for God, and when sickness or adversity comes our way, we can still blame God to the point of betraying Him…. The Bible says, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord’ (Hebrews 12:14). We still live often in the midst of sin, committing sins and resisting the Lord, and we are unworthy to see the face of the Lord. We therefore need the Lord to perform a further stage of salvation and purify our sinful nature.”

Hearing Kevin’s fellowship filled me with light. I thought of how I knew perfectly well what the Lord requires of us, and yet was never able to put it into practice, and about how I was always intolerant and impatient in my dealings with my husband and my son, and would often lose my temper and lecture them. As it turned out, this was all happening because my sinful nature still existed within me, so of course, no matter how much I prayed, read the Bible or tried to master myself to be able to bear my cross, I could never rid myself of the bonds and constraints of sin, and I realized that we do indeed need the Lord to perform a further stage of salvation.

I Find the Way to Cast Off Sin

At that point, another sister who was online asked, “Brother Kevin, we all want to cast off the bonds of sin, and I have tried to do it many times in different ways, but I have never found the right path. Please could you fellowship with us about how the second coming of the Lord will save us from the bonds of sin?” After listening to the sister’s question, I also waited in anticipation for the answer.

Kevin said, “Yes, sister, this question you have asked is very important to the matter of our salvation and to us entering into heaven. With regards to how God saves us from sin, let’s first read a few verses of Scripture: “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” (John 16:12–13). “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God” (1 Peter 4:17). “And if any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:47–48). These prophecies are very clear: God shall return in the last days and He will express the truth and perform the work of judgment beginning in God’s house, and He shall do this work to enable us to cast off the bonds of sin, and to completely purify our satanic corrupt dispositions. Let’s look at two more passages from God’s words. God says, ‘In the last days, Christ uses a variety of truths to teach man, to expose the essence of man, and to dissect the words and deeds of man. These words comprise various truths, such as man’s duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and the disposition of God, and so on. These words are all directed at the essence of man and his corrupt disposition. In particular, the words that expose how man spurns God are spoken in regard to how man is an embodiment of Satan, and an enemy force against God. In undertaking His work of judgment, God does not simply make clear the nature of man with a few words; He exposes, deals with, and prunes over the long term. These methods of exposure, dealing, and pruning cannot be substituted with ordinary words, but with the truth of which man is utterly bereft. Only methods such as these can be called judgment; only through judgment of this kind can man be subdued and thoroughly convinced into submission to God, and moreover gain true knowledge of God. What the work of judgment brings about is man’s understanding of the true face of God and the truth about his own rebelliousness. The work of judgment allows man to gain much understanding of the will of God, of the purpose of God’s work, and of the mysteries that are incomprehensible to him. It also allows man to recognize and know his corrupt substance and the roots of his corruption, as well as to discover the ugliness of man. These effects are all brought about by the work of judgment, for the substance of this work is actually the work of opening up the truth, the way, and the life of God to all those who have faith in Him. This work is the work of judgment done by God.’ ‘By means of this work of judgment and chastisement, man will fully come to know the filthy and corrupt substance within his own self, and he will be able to change completely and become clean. Only in this way can man become worthy to return before the throne of God. All the work done this day is so that man can be made clean and be changed; through judgment and chastisement by the word, as well as through refinement, man can purge away his corruption and be made pure. Rather than deeming this stage of work to be that of salvation, it would be more apt to say it is the work of purification.’”

Kevin gave fellowship, saying, “God has once again become flesh and, on the foundation of the Lord Jesus’ work of redemption, is performing the work of judgment beginning in God’s house, using words to judge our inner satanic nature and to expose our corruption, whilst at the same time telling us His will and what He requires of us. By accepting the judgment of God’s words, we come to a true understanding of our satanic dispositions, such as our crookedness and deceit, our arrogance and conceitedness, our being selfish and contemptible, and our wickedness and greed. Simultaneously, through the judgment of God’s words, we come to know what kind of person God loves and what kind of person He hates, and we come to understand that God’s disposition is not only merciful and loving, but is also righteous, majestic and wrathful. Only by the majestic judgment of God do we come to have a God-fearing heart, and whether we reveal the corrupt thoughts in our minds or we act sinfully, we no longer repent in word only and we no longer just appear from the outside to be restraining our own behavior, but instead we accept the judgment of God’s words, we come to know our own satanic nature and essence, true hatred toward our inner satanic nature arises and we are then able to practice in accordance with God’s words. The more we accept the judgment and chastisement of God’s words, the more we see clearly our own corrupt essence, and the stronger our resolve to practice the truth becomes; as we put more and more truths into practice, unbeknownst to us, our life dispositions then undergo a change.”

Listening to Kevin’s fellowship allowed me to perceive just how practical God’s work of judgment truly is and I was much moved to hear it. By living every single day in a state of sinning and confessing, I was truly in need of God to perform this work of judgment into order to save me.

Later, I downloaded from the Internet the app of The Church of Almighty God, and I read the words of Almighty God every day and often attended gatherings with my brothers and sisters. Over time, I came to understand many truths I had never understood before during my belief in the Lord, such as the mystery of God’s name, the mystery of God’s incarnation, the aim of God’s three stages of work to save mankind, how we can discern between false Christs and the true Christ, and how we can discern between false churches and the true church, and so on. My spirit had obtained the supply of the water of life and I enjoyed the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I became certain that Almighty God is the Lord Jesus returned, and I began to learn to slowly experience God’s work in my life.

I Understand the Root of My Angry Temper and God’s Words Become Even More Precious to Me

One time, my son came home after school, and when I flipped through his school journal, I saw a message from a teacher: “Chengcheng has had a spat with his schoolmates at school today and he would not admit fault no matter what was said to him, and he lost his temper with me. Please make sure you educate your son.” Reading this, I could not contain my anger and I exploded. This son of mine really was causing me a lot of worry and was always being a pain. I’d received many such notes over the years, and I often had to apologize to the teachers and the other parents. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got, and I gave him a good telling off. Seeing him look so wronged and afraid after my scolding, I felt upset and reproached myself. I then went before God to seek, and I saw these words of God: “Once a man has status, he will often find it difficult to control his mood, and so he will enjoy seizing upon instances to express his dissatisfaction and vent his emotions; he will often flare up into rage for no apparent reason, so as to reveal his ability and let others know that his status and identity are different from those of ordinary people. Of course, corrupt people without any status will also frequently lose control. Their anger is frequently caused by damage to their individual benefits. In order to protect their own status and dignity, corrupt mankind will frequently vent their emotions and reveal their arrogant nature.” Only when I read these revelations in God’s words did I become aware of the root cause of why I lost my temper with my son—it was because my reputation had been damaged. Whenever a teacher sent a message saying how my son had done this wrong or done that wrong, I felt like my son was not reflecting well on me and was making me look bad, and that is why I lectured him so condescendingly. I also came to understand that getting angry was an expression of my satanic arrogant disposition. In the past, to make my son change his bad habits, I would often lose my temper with him and lecture him condescendingly, compulsively trying to change his bad habits. From the outside, I looked as though I was doing this because I meant well for my son, but in essence, I was treating my son by relying on my satanic arrogant disposition, and I was harming him as well. I finally saw that the life I was living out had no semblance of a genuine human being, and that I was too selfish and too arrogant. When I thought about it carefully, I realized that it was normal for children to make mistakes and that I should be guiding him in a better, more systematic way, so that he learned to change his bad habits, and not lecturing him by relying on my arrogant disposition.

Afterward, whenever my son did anything wrong and I wanted to lose my temper at him, I would promptly come before God and pray. I would entrust God with my son, and I learned to use God’s words to guide him. I discovered that my son was beginning slowly to change somewhat, and his teachers only very rarely sent messages to me saying that he had been in a fight with a classmate at school. What’s more, my relationship with my son got better and better, and this allowed me to appreciate the joy that comes from practicing the truth.

Thanks be to God! I have had the fortune to be able to come back to God’s family, and to experience God’s love and salvation. I now have a path to follow when it comes to pursuing dispositional change, and I am able to put some of God’s words into practice. My husband said happily to me, “You’ve changed a lot since you started to believe in Almighty God, and there has been laughter and the sounds of joy in our home.” I know that this is all because I was changed by God’s words, and because they enabled me to live out some genuine human likeness. God’s words are so precious!

I Had a New Understanding of “The Head of the Woman Is the Man”

By Anna, United States

Learning of the Lord’s Return in the Midst of the Church’s Desolation

I started to believe in the Lord Jesus along with my mother when I was 13. Most of the time, we would go to small assemblies at a local house church, during which it was usually the brothers who gave sermons. At that time, I didn’t understand why there were no sisters who preached. Once, my mother took me to attend a big assembly where I heard the pastor say, “It is recorded in the Bible, ‘The head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God’ (1 Corinthians 11:3). This verse tells us that Christ is the head of the church. Since Jesus Christ is a male, this means men can take on authority. Therefore, the brothers are the head of the sisters and they are in charge of all the important church work, while the sisters can only cooperate with the work like visiting and supporting the believers, singing hymns and hosting….” Hearing him say this stirred my heart, and I thought: “So that’s how it is! No wonder the pastors, elders and preachers are all brothers while the sisters cannot give sermons on the podium. This is because the Bible says man is the head of woman. This really rings true. Woman was the first to be tempted to sin and thus they are unclean and are not qualified to take on those works.”

Besides, the pastor emphasized over and over again, saying, “The second coming of the Lord must be a man and cannot possibly be a woman. This is because the Bible clearly records that the Lord Jesus Christ is a male and that only men have authority. So we must not be deceived….” Since then, I had been clinging to this view that man was the head of woman and that when the Lord returned He couldn’t possibly be a woman.

In 2001, however, we heard Eastern Lightning preach that the Lord had returned and was called Almighty God, and they also said this time God had come as a woman. I thought what they preached was different from what the pastor said, whose words had a biblical basis, so I didn’t even bother to investigate it and kept avoiding those who preached the way of Eastern Lightning.

At that time, because the situation in the church was very terrible, with many believers growing weak in faith and no longer coming to gatherings, my co-workers and I were busy supporting those weak brothers and sisters every day. But no matter how hard we worked, there were still many believers who stopped attending meetings. The church was growing ever more desolate, yet there was nothing we could do about it except frequently pray for the Lord to revive the church.

One morning in 2003, I received a call from my cousin, who invited me to her house. After I got there, she said to me, face beaming with joy, “Thank the Lord! Today I called you here because I wanted you to hear a brother preach with me. He is a good preacher who preaches everywhere and is experienced and knowledgeable. It’s a rare opportunity that we can listen to his sermons.” Happily, I said, “Thank the Lord! Since this is such a great opportunity, of course I’d love to hear him speak.” So I began to talk about the situation in my church and the brother then integrated some of the biblical prophecies about the last days to fellowship about the root of the church’s desolation, saying now was the time of the Lord’s return. After that, he gave us fellowship on how the Lord would return, God’s three stages of work, the mystery of incarnation, the mystery of God’s name, and so on. These were things I had never heard over my many years of belief in the Lord, and I had never expected that the brother would understand so much. His fellowship was very illuminating and contained the enlightenment and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and my heart felt enlightened after I heard it.

The next day, we continued to gather together to fellowship. To my surprise, the brother said happily to me, “The Lord has come back as the incarnate Almighty God, and He is doing the work of judgment beginning from the house of God….” Upon hearing the name Almighty God, I immediately thought of how the pastor had said Eastern Lightning preached that the Lord had returned as a woman, and then my insides started to turn: “Women are cursed by God and are the origin of mankind’s sin, so how could God possibly become a woman? Besides, the Bible clearly says: ‘But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God’ (1 Corinthians 11:3). The returned Lord should be a man. How could He be a woman? That’s never possible. But what the brother has fellowshiped these days makes a lot of sense and is in line with the biblical prophecies. If Almighty God is actually the returned Lord Jesus and I miss His coming, won’t I lose God’s salvation?” After some inner struggle, I decided to ask the brother to make it clear.

Is It That God Can Only Incarnate as a Man?

So, I asked straight out, “Brother, what you have fellowshiped these days is very good, and I have gained a lot from hearing it. But you say this time God has come as a woman, which I cannot totally accept. Back then, the Lord Jesus incarnated as a man, and moreover, it says in the Bible that women are cursed and cannot take on authority, so how could God become a woman to do His work?”

Smiling, the brother said, “Thanks be to God! The truth expressed by God in the last days has exposed all sorts of notions we harbor about God and also told us what God is and has. As long as we have a heart that thirsts for and seeks the truth, any conceptions that we may have can be resolved. Now let’s fellowship on this issue together. Most believers in the Lord maintain that because the Lord Jesus came to work in the form of a man and it says in the Bible that the head of the woman is the man and that women are cursed by God, it is absolutely impossible that God will become flesh as a woman. But is this conclusion we’ve reached based on these words in the Bible in line with the truth and God’s will? Is this understanding verified by the Holy Spirit or is it simply our notions and imaginings? In fact, this understanding does not conform to the truth but is merely our notions and misunderstanding about God. Let’s look at a passage of Almighty God’s words and then we will understand. ‘Before this, all humanity believed that God could only be male and that a female could not be called God, for all humanity regarded men as having authority over women. They believed that no woman could take on authority, only men. What is more, they even said that man was the head of woman and that woman must obey man and could not surpass him. In times past, when it was said that man was woman’s head, this was directed at Adam and Eve, who had been beguiled by the serpent—not at man and woman as they had been created by Jehovah in the beginning. … Jehovah said to woman, “Your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.” He spoke thus only so that humankind (that is, both man and woman) might live normal lives under the dominion of Jehovah, and so that the lives of humankind might have a structure, and not fall out of their proper order. Therefore, Jehovah made appropriate rules for how man and woman should act, though this was only in regard to all the created beings living on the earth, and bore no relation to God’s incarnate flesh. How could God be the same as His created beings? His words were directed only toward the humankind of His creation; it was in order for humankind to live normal lives that He established rules for man and woman. In the beginning, when Jehovah created humankind, He made two kinds of human being, both male and female; and so there is the division of male and female in His incarnate fleshes. He did not decide His work based on the words He spoke to Adam and Eve. The two times He has become flesh have been determined entirely according to His thinking at the time He first created humankind; that is, He has completed the work of His two incarnations based on the male and the female before they were corrupted. … Surely it cannot be that the maleness of Jesus proves He is the head of all women but not of all men? Is He not the King of all the Jews (including both men and women)? He is God Himself, not just the head of woman but the head of man as well. He is the Lord of all creatures and the head of all creatures. How could you determine the maleness of Jesus to be the symbol of the head of woman? Would this not be blasphemy? Jesus is a male who has not been corrupted. He is God; He is Christ; He is the Lord. How could He be a male like Adam who was corrupted? Jesus is the flesh worn by the most holy Spirit of God. How could you say He is a God who possesses the maleness of Adam? In that case, would not all of God’s work have been wrong? Would Jehovah have been able to incorporate within Jesus the maleness of Adam who was beguiled by the serpent? Is not the incarnation of the present time another instance of the work of God incarnate, who is different in gender from Jesus but like Him in nature? Do you still dare say that God incarnate could not be female, because woman was the first to be beguiled by the serpent? Do you still dare say that, as woman is the most unclean and the source of the corruption of humankind, God could not possibly become flesh as a female? Do you dare to persist in saying that “woman shall always obey man and may never manifest or directly represent God”? You did not understand in the past, but can you now go on blaspheming the work of God, especially the incarnate flesh of God?’”

After reading God’s words, the brother continued to fellowship, “Almighty God has opened this mystery to us. In fact, the Bible verses that ‘Your desire shall be to your husband’ and ‘the head of the woman is the man’ were the requirements God made of Adam and Eve after they fell into sin, and were so that the lives of mankind on earth might have a structure. They were the things that we created humanity should abide by and were completely unrelated to the incarnate God. We, however, require the incarnate God to abide by the words God spoke to Adam and Eve after their corruption by Satan, thinking that women are the origin of human corruption and are cursed by God, that they should be under the control of men and are not qualified to hold power, and that the second coming of God couldn’t possibly be a woman. Besides, we also apply the idea ‘the head of the woman is the man and women cannot hold power’ to the incarnate God. Doesn’t this prove that we humans are too arrogant and irrational? Isn’t this blaspheming God? Actually, from the revelations in God’s words we can know that the flesh that God wears hasn’t been corrupted by Satan, and that it possesses the essence of God’s divinity and represents God Himself. Take the incarnate Lord Jesus for example. He is not only the head of men, but of women, and even more so of all creatures. Similarly, although this time God is a female in this body, He is still the head of all creatures, the God of all mankind. Our belief that the head of the woman is the man and that the coming of God must be a man is purely our notions and imagination and is at odds with God’s will.”

Through listening to God’s words and the brother’s fellowship, my heart felt brightened. Excitedly, I said, “Now I understand. It turns out that God’s word that ‘Your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you’ was targeted at us corrupt mankind, not at the incarnate God, and it was in order that we humans could live orderly lives on earth that God made such rules. Before, I blindly listened to the pastor and believed that the head of woman was man. I thought the woman was tempted by Satan to sin and thus was unclean and low, and that God despised women and couldn’t possibly incarnate as a woman. Now I see that I misunderstood God’s will and that all these things were actually our notions and imaginings. If it hadn’t been for Almighty God’s words revealing this mystery, I would resist and blaspheme God based on my notions and imagination without even realizing it!”

The Significance of God Incarnating as a Woman

Both my cousin and the brother nodded happily. The brother said, “Thanks be to God! God is wise and all of His work exceeds our imagination. If we are able to seek the truth in regard to our notions, it will bring joy to God. In fact, both male and female are created beings in God’s eyes and there is no distinction of superiority and inferiority amongst them. Let’s read a verse of the Scriptures and we will understand this better. In Genesis 1:27 it says: ‘So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.’ This verse clearly tells us that God created both male and female in His own image, and it doesn’t say that He only created male and didn’t create female. Therefore, if we delimit God as male, doesn’t it contradict this verse? God is the Lord of creation, and no matter what gender His incarnation takes, it has significance. As for why it is that God has returned in the last days in female form to do His work, Almighty God’s word has opened up this mystery. Let’s read a passage and we’ll understand.

“Almighty God says: ‘Each stage of work done by God has its own practical significance. Back then, when Jesus came, He was male, and when God comes this time, He is female. From this, you can see that God created both male and female for the sake of His work, and with Him there is no distinction of gender. When His Spirit comes, He can take on any flesh He pleases, and that flesh can represent Him; whether male or female, it can represent God as long as it is His incarnate flesh. If Jesus had appeared as a female when He came, in other words, if an infant girl, and not a boy, had been conceived by the Holy Spirit, that stage of work would have been completed all the same. If that had been the case, then the present stage of work would have to be completed by a male instead, but the work would be completed all the same. The work done in either stage is equally significant; neither stage of work is repeated, nor does it conflict with the other. … With God there is no distinction of gender. He does His work as He wishes, and in doing His work He is not subject to any restrictions, but is especially free. Yet every stage of work has its own practical significance. God became flesh twice, and it is self-evident that His incarnation during the last days is the final time. He has come to make known all His deeds. If in this stage He did not become flesh in order personally to do work for man to witness, man would forever cling to the notion that God is only male, not female.’”

The brother then fellowshiped, “Sister, aren’t God’s words very clear? God is inherently Spirit with no distinction of gender, and only because of the needs of His salvation work does He clothe Himself in flesh and take on the form of a man or a woman. But no matter what gender God adopts to do His work, His essence does not change and the One who works is still God Himself. Back then, the Lord Jesus came to do His work as a man. If, at that time, He had incarnated as a female, He would still have been able to complete the work of redemption. From this it can be seen that the work God does is entirely liberated and free and that He is not constrained by gender. Besides, God has incarnated as a woman this time to thoroughly resolve our notions and imaginings about Him. Since we all know that God worked as a male the first time He came incarnate, we have been holding the notion that God is male. God incarnating as a woman in the last days therefore strongly counters this notion we have, dispels our erroneous understanding of God, and allows us to see that the incarnation of God can be both male and female, so that we will no longer define God as male and can better know Him. It can be seen that God’s incarnation this time doing the work of saving man as a female is so very meaningful!”

Through God’s words and the brother’s fellowship, I came to further understand that God is inherently Spirit and that it is for the sake of saving us mankind that He incarnates to do His work. The first time God was incarnated, He embodied the identity of a man, and if He returned still in the form of a man, we would then define God as male and as the God of men. “It turns out that God incarnating as a woman has such great significance,” I thought. “If it hadn’t been for Almighty God revealing this mystery, I would never have come to understand it. Before, I had no discernment and blindly believed whatever the pastor said. Fortunately, God’s salvation of the last days came upon me and removed my notions. Thanks be to God!”

Thinking of this, I said happily, “Thank Almighty God! Now I completely understand. The Lord Jesus, whom I have yearned for, has now returned as the incarnate Almighty God. I must share this great news with my brothers and sisters in the church so that they can follow the footsteps of God’s work as soon as possible!” Hearing this, the brother and my cousin nodded their heads in excitement, and we then knelt down and offered up a prayer of gratitude to God together …

Editor’s Note: The greatest longing for us Christians is to receive the Lord’s appearance. Regardless of what notions we may harbor, as long as we investigate with an open mind and call out to the Lord, He will lead us to recognize His voice. Just as the Lord Jesus promised us, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7).

Finding the Church With the Holy Spirit’s Work, I Welcome the Lord

By Sarah, Philippines

Baffled Once and Again During My Search

I was born into a Catholic family, and since I was little I had followed the rules of Catholicism. But later I found that keeping these rules couldn’t make me understand the Lord’s will, or solve my various confusions in belief and in life, nor could it provide for my life. Thereupon, I constantly searched for Christian videos to watch, and hungrily, thirstily read the Bible, wanting to solve my confusions. However, when I saw more, my questions also increased. From then on, I went to other denominations to serve and to look for someone who could solve my confusions. I sought and explored in many churches, yet I didn’t know which church was the one that was really after God’s heart. I remember, in a church, the dean said that their church was a true one, but at the same time, he deliberately vilified and judged other churches, and even sometimes said some words of condemnation and curse, and he also lashed out at the people from other churches. All this was so hard for me to accept that I left the church.

Later I went to another church, where they focused on spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus and bringing glory to Him. I thought that I had found a true church, but after a while, I found out that many believers there adored and looked up to their pastor. Once, an elderly woman even rose from her seat to express her respect for the pastor. The pastor smilingly gave his thanks to her, but he said nothing to prevent her praise. I thought: The pastor only has his eyes on enjoying the believers’ praise for him. Why does he not stress that the Lord Jesus is our Savior and is the truth, the way and the life? Why does he not exalt the Lord? Given this, I prayed to the Lord and asked Him to guide me in measuring whether the church was after His heart.

In the later meetings, I discovered many times that what the pastor preached was different from what I understood. For example, the pastor said, “In believing in the Lord, we don’t need to seek to sin no more, because it is normal and understandable for us humans to sin.” But the Bible clearly says, “Be you holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16), so, in our belief in the Lord, we should seek to break away from sin and to be cleansed. Why did what the pastor preached differ from my understanding of the verse? Which was right? If the Lord Jesus could be among us and lead and guide us, we would easily know which was right. It was too difficult for us to look for answers on our own. At the thought of all this, I couldn’t stop myself from sobbing, and I felt very perplexed and couldn’t help praying, “O Lord, if only I had been born into the time when You were performing Your work. You personally led us people and could directly answer our questions, and this would enable me to follow You more easily. O Lord, where are You? …” Because I didn’t know in which church my life could gain sustenance, I decided to go on attending meetings in that church. This continued until one day when I saw that the pastor asked us believers to offer a lot of money in the name of buying chairs for the church, and said that the money donated before wouldn’t be spent in doing that. I wondered: Why do we need new chairs? Is there something wrong with the present ones? Where will the tithes we previously offered up go? … These questions made me again become lost. And so I no longer went to church but read the Bible alone at home.

Since then, my spiritual state always varied: For a while it was good, and for a while it was not. I didn’t read the scriptures so thirstily as before, and working, eating, sleeping and watching TV series were all I had left in the world. Day after day passed and I felt my life was empty. I longed to regain my confidence and so I again started to attend gatherings. However, I still didn’t progress in spirit, for in every meeting, the content communicated was either the same as before, or didn’t have a center and couldn’t give me a practical path. I ended up losing my way again. I often thought in my heart, “O Lord, where are You? When will You come back? I can’t feel Your presence. I so much want You to return …”

After I Met My Church Friend Kirsten, My Many Years of Confusions Were Undone

The Lord really heard my prayers! In September, 2018, I got in touch with a fellow church member Kirsten who I had looked for a church with several years before. Speaking of the belief, she said, “Over the past several years, I have visited many churches, but I feel I haven’t obtained provision for my life and my spirit is still parched. Besides, the believers do business there and seldom fellowship the Lord’s words. This all illustrates that there has been no work of the Holy Spirit within such churches. In this situation, we should hasten to seek out a church with the work of the Holy Spirit, and this requires understanding the principles of discerning real and false churches.” Hearing this, I thought: “This topic is good. We indeed need to understand the principle.” I very much wanted to listen and wished to find the answers to my questions.

Kirsten continued fellowshiping to me, “Whether or not a church is real is mainly determined by whether or not it has the work of the Holy Spirit. If there is the work of the Holy Spirit, we’ll gradually understand truths, our spirits can gain provision, our lives will make progress constantly, and we’ll have a greater knowledge of God and have a closer relationship with God. Let’s take a look at the church today. What pastors preach are only letters, and can’t resolve the practical difficulties of the believers; they have listened to their sermons for many years, but they don’t grow in life, their faith becomes colder and colder, and they even aren’t willing to gather together. Moreover, some pastors and elders exalt and testify to themselves as much as possible in meetings, which causes the believers to worship and look up to them. Not only that, but some, in order to rope people into their churches, attack and judge other denominations, and some even embezzle the church’s money in the name of all manner of things. All these are the manifestations of violating the Lord’s teachings, committing sins and resisting the Lord. It is evident that these pastors and elders have no place at all for the Lord in their hearts and don’t treat the Lord’s teachings seriously. So, the Holy Spirit doesn’t work within them. Under their leadership, the believers all have deviated from the Lord’s will and are living in the state of committing sins and resisting the Lord. If it is a true church, the leaders will have hearts that fear God, and when working and preaching, they should pay attention to leading people to understand the Lord’s will and to practice His teachings in life, and what the believers live out will become more and more normal and their knowledge of God will also increase. Contrarily, if our lives can’t gain sustenance in a church, but instead we get further and further away from God and what we live out is not much different to what the unbelievers do, this will prove that the church has no work of the Holy Spirit and is a false church. Then we should leave it as soon as possible, and go to find one with the work of the Holy Spirit.”

Hearing Kirsten’s fellowship, I felt it was very enlightening. Over these years, I had visited different churches and had been looking for a true one, yet I couldn’t say for sure what it was. At that moment, I came to understand: A true church has the Holy Spirit’s work. It can satisfy our spirits, make our relationship with God become ever closer and enable us to live out His teachings. When I thought about what the pastor had said—“It is normal and understandable for us humans to commit sins”—I realized this couldn’t point out the way to not commit sins, but instead would make believers indulge themselves, not thirst to break away from the bondage of sin, and instead drift along so that they would become further and further away from God. I thought of how, in the past, I was perplexed, my spiritual condition wasn’t good, and I went to take part in church life yet couldn’t obtain new light. The pastors all preached the same old things, and after hearing them, we believers couldn’t receive any enjoyment and our spiritual hunger couldn’t be resolved. So, such churches weren’t real ones.

I emotionally said to Kirsten, “Your fellowship today is very good, and is able to supply my spiritual needs. Could you fellowship more with me?”

How to Listen to God’s Voice

Kirsten happily said, “Thank God! Just now we mentioned that we should look for a church with the work of the Holy Spirit, but where and how can we find such a church? We all know the Lord Jesus once promised that He would certainly return in the last days. The Bible says, ‘These are they which follow the Lamb wherever He goes’ (Revelation 14:4). That is, as long as we find God’s footsteps, we’ll find the church with the work of the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus prophesied, ‘He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches’ (Revelation 2:7). ‘I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come’ (John 16:12–13). It can be seen that, when the Lord Jesus returns in the last days, He will speak more words to the churches, and tell us all the truths that will enable us to be saved and be freed from corruption. If we’re able to find the Holy Spirit’s utterance, we will find the Lord’s footsteps, and will be welcoming the Lord, and then we will not worry that our lives can’t be provided for.”

After listening to what Kirsten communicated, I came to understand a little: It turns out the Lord Jesus long ago prophesied that He will speak again when He returns in the last days; therefore, if we find the utterances of the Holy Spirit to the churches, then we will be welcoming the Lord!

Kirsten continued, “So, we must learn to listen to God’s voice. How then can we distinguish God’s voice? What differences are there between God’s voice and man’s words? Let’s look at a passage of words.”

And then she sent me these words, “The words of God incarnate open up a new age, guide all of mankind, reveal mysteries, and show man the direction he is to take in the new age. The enlightenment obtained by man is but simple instructions for practice or knowledge. It cannot guide all of mankind into a new age or reveal the mysteries of God Himself. When all is said and done, God is God, and man is man. God has the essence of God, and man has the essence of man” (“Only He Who Experiences the Work of God Truly Believes in God”).

Kirsten fellowshiped, “From this passage, we can see that God’s utterances differ from any person’s words, and are also different from those of prophets and apostles. We humans don’t have the substance of God, and aren’t possessed of the truth. Even prophets and apostles can’t express the truth either, and they can only convey God’s words or, with the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, speak some words that are in line with the truth. Only God incarnate can express the truth, unveil mysteries, and show us mankind the direction of practice in a new age. Just as the Lord Jesus said, ‘Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ (Matthew 18:3). ‘Not every one that said to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of My Father which is in heaven’ (Matthew 7:21). Apart from God, no one can tell us the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. The Lord Jesus also said, ‘And no man has ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven’ (John 3:13). The Lord made it known that none of us humans have ever been raptured up to heaven. And the Lord Jesus told the people at that time many mysteries, such as that John was the Elijah who had come. Only the Lord Jesus could speak these mysteries while we humans would never be able to know them by ourselves whatsoever. What’s more, the Lord Jesus taught people how to confess, repent, forgive, endure, suffer and bear crosses, and all else that comprises the way people in the Age of Grace should adhere to. From all this, we can see that God’s word is the truth, can reveal mysteries and show us humans a new path of practice.

“In addition, we should understand that God’s words have authority and majesty. No human could ever say or imitate these words. Just as some passages of words say, ‘It is not hard to discover that the authority and identity of God are clearly revealed in the wording of God’s utterances. For example, when God says “My covenant is with you, and you shall … have I made you … I will make you…,” phrases such as “you shall” and “I will,” whose wording bears the affirmation of God’s identity and authority, are, in one respect, an indication of the Creator’s faithfulness; in another respect, they are special words used by God, who possesses the identity of the Creator—as well as being part of conventional vocabulary.’ ‘These words were spoken from the mouth of God, and there is power, majesty, and authority in the words of God. Such might and authority, and the inevitability of the accomplishment of fact, are unattainable by any created or non-created being, and unsurpassable by any created or non-created being.’ ‘When words like these are uttered from the mouth of God, they are a revelation and expression of God’s true disposition, a perfect revelation and manifestation of the essence and authority of God, and there is nothing more appropriate and suitable as proof of the Creator’s identity. The manner, tone, and wording of such utterances are precisely the mark of the Creator’s identity, and correspond perfectly to the expression of God’s own identity; in them there is no pretense, no impurity; they are, completely and utterly, the perfect demonstration of the essence and authority of the Creator’ (“God Himself, the Unique I”).

“These words tell us that we can distinguish from the characteristics of the words spoken by God. God’s words possess authority and power, and especially some special words and tones, they are the symbol of the unique identity and essence of the Creator. We can see from what is recorded in the Bible that, in the age of the Old Testament, when God made a promise to Abraham, He said, ‘As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. … And I will make you exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you’ (Genesis 17:4,6). ‘That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore’ (Genesis 22:17). No one of us humans would dare to say like this. We can only say some words to express our good wishes, such as ‘May your family have great wealth’ and ‘May your offspring multiply.’ But after saying, we can’t fulfill these words because we have no authority of God. Only God has the authority to say these words and has the power to accomplish these things. Nowadays, the descendants of Abraham have spread across the entire world, and this is a reality which is evident to all people. In the same way, let’s look at what the Lord Jesus said in the age of the New Testament, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, If a man keep My saying, he shall never see death’ (John 8:51). ‘I am the bread of life: he that comes to Me shall never hunger; and he that believes on Me shall never thirst’ (John 6:35). These words of the Lord Jesus are full of authority and power. His words are the bread of life and can provide for our lives. Who, among us humans, dare to say “If you listen to my words, you won’t die” or “I’m the bread of life: I can allow you never to hunger or thirst”? The Lord can also directly forgive man’s sins, just as He said, ‘Your sins are forgiven’ (Luke 7:48). At that moment, people around said in their hearts, ‘Who is this that forgives sins also?’ (Luke 7:49). That’s because they knew that no one can directly forgive sins, only God has this authority, and humans can never say such words. In fact, as long as it is God’s word, once reading it, we can feel its authority and power. Even though sometimes we might not totally understand God’s words we’re reading, in our hearts, we can ascertain that they are God’s voice.”

After hearing this, I felt those passages of words were really good. Before, I was worried whether I could have recognized the Lord Jesus if I had been born in His time. Now these words so clearly told us how to discern God’s words. God’s words actually carry authority, and can reveal all kinds of mysteries which we humans have never known. Truly, God’s words are a symbol of God’s identity and status, which we can feel in our spirits after hearing God’s words.

Oh, This Is Really God’s Voice

Before ending the meeting, Kirsten sent me a wonderful clip from the film What a Beautiful Voice and a video of recitation of God’s words Knowing the Three Stages of God’s Work Is the Path to Knowing God. In the video, there was the following passage of words,  “Among those who have had some achievements in the course of knowing God, there are almost none who are up to standard. Man does not know what it means to know God, or why it is necessary to know God, or to what degree one must attain in order to know God. This is what is so confounding to mankind, and it is quite simply the biggest riddle faced by mankind—no one is capable of answering this question, nor is anyone willing to answer this question, because, to date, no one among mankind has had any success in the study of this work. Perhaps, when the riddle of the three stages of work is made known to mankind, there will appear in succession a group of talented people who know God. Of course, I hope that is the case, and, furthermore, I am in the process of carrying out this work, and hope to see the appearance of more such talented people in the near future. They will become those who bear testimony to the fact of these three stages of work, and, of course, they will also be the first to bear testimony to these three stages of work. But nothing would be more distressing and regrettable than if such talented people do not emerge on the day that God’s work comes to an end, or if there are only one or two who have personally accepted being made perfect by God incarnate. However, this is only the worst case scenario. Whatever the case may be, I still hope that those who truly pursue can gain this blessing. Since the beginning of time, there has never before been work such as this; such an undertaking has never occurred in the history of human development. If you can truly become one of the first of those who know God, would this not be the highest honor among all creatures? Would any creature among mankind be more commended by God? Such work is not easy to achieve, but will ultimately still reap rewards. Regardless of their gender or nationality, all those who are capable of achieving the knowledge of God will, in the end, receive God’s greatest honor, and will be the only ones that possess the authority of God. This is the work of today, and it is also the work of the future; it is the last and highest work to be accomplished in 6,000 years of work, and it is a way of working that reveals each category of man. Through the work of causing man to know God, the different ranks of man are revealed: Those who know God are qualified to receive God’s blessings and accept His promises, while those who do not know God are unqualified to receive God’s blessings and accept His promises. Those who know God are the intimates of God, and those who do not know God cannot be called the intimates of God; the intimates of God can receive any of God’s blessings, but those who are not His intimates are not worthy of any of His work. Whether it be tribulations, refinement, or judgment, all these things are for the sake of allowing man to ultimately achieve a knowledge of God, and so that man may submit to God. This is the only effect that will ultimately be achieved. Nothing of the three stages of work is hidden, and this is advantageous to man’s knowledge of God, and helps man gain a more complete and thorough knowledge of God. All this work is of benefit to man.

After listening, I felt these words are too authoritative and powerful, and my heart was deeply rocked. In particular, when it came to some things about God, the words say “of course, I” and “I hope;” apart from God, who else can speak in such a tone? Some things about mankind’s destination are also mentioned in these words, and they are spoken in a positive tone, without any uncertainty. Who could dare to definitely say the mysteries about the destination of mankind? Moreover, from these words, I saw God’s hope and love for mankind, and that He hopes that we can gain His blessings and promises. This moved me a lot. And when I, from these words, saw that whether or not one could gain these blessings depended on one’s pursuits and very few people could achieve the knowledge of God in the end, I witnessed God’s righteous disposition and my heart could not help but revere God. I felt that these words couldn’t have come from an average person, as though they were indeed God’s voice! After finishing watching the video, I couldn’t wait to ask, “Kirsten, where does the video come from? The words in it are very authoritative and mighty! Are they God’s words?”

At this point, Kirsten excitedly answered, “Thank God! Only God’s sheep can really hear God’s voice. Since we can recognize God’s voice from His words, we’re the most blessed. It was also after conversing with the Lord Jesus that the Samaritan woman came to recognize He is the promised Messiah. Just as the Lord Jesus said, ‘My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me’ (John 10:27). Sarah, in reality, what I read to you today are all God’s words. The Lord Jesus we have longed for has returned with the name of Almighty God, beginning the Age of Kingdom and bringing the Age of Grace to an end. He has expressed all truths to enable humans to attain salvation. These words not only have shown us the path of practice in the new age and unveiled the mysteries of God’s management work, they’ve also disclosed our corrupt substance and judged our disobedience. In God’s words, we can come to have knowledge of our own nature of resisting God, see the reality that we have been corrupted by Satan and find the correct path to being freed from the bondage of sin and being cleansed and saved. Only God can express these truths, which are the manifestation of God’s supreme authority. From God’s words, it can be seen that Almighty God and the Lord Jesus are of the same source, and They do the work of the same Spirit—Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus! Nowadays, branches of The Church of Almighty God have been established in many foreign countries, and those from various denominations who truly believe in God, after hearing God’s utterances, have submitted before His throne one after another. This precisely fulfills the prophecy in the Bible that states, ‘For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west’ (Matthew 24:27). Almighty God is indeed the returned Lord Jesus we have always longed for!”

Hearing the news, I felt like I was dreaming, and I thought, “This is shocking news. It turns out that these words are really the words of the Lord Jesus. The Lord I have been awaiting for years has really returned.” I didn’t know how to convey my feelings. I believed all the time that the Lord would come back, and I had been yearning for His return, so that I could be led by the Lord Jesus just like how He led the people when He was working on earth. Thinking that the Lord Jesus is now with us on earth, and in the name of Almighty God, is doing a stage of work to save us, I couldn’t stop myself from crying, and I felt that the Lord loved me much and that I was truly blessed. Then I couldn’t help calling out in my heart, “O Lord, You’re here. I always expect to have an opportunity of being with You, and be able to hear Your words and see You like those who were blessed to be born in the age of Your working. Now I have found Your footsteps. I thank You for giving me the good news and ending my search.”

After Following the Lamb’s Footsteps

Afterward, I began to read the words of Almighty God every day and take part in church life. From God’s words, I understood the mysteries of God’s six-thousand-year management plan, the three stages of God’s work, the mystery of the incarnation and many other aspects of the truth, and this confirmed even more for me that Almighty God is the returned Lord Jesus. Meanwhile, I understood that only God is the truth, and no religion, no person, event or thing is the truth. Only through Almighty God’s words did I fully understand the true meaning of “God is the truth, the way, and the life.” Thank Almighty God for bringing me before Him, allowing me to welcome the Lord’s return and ending my search.

How Does God Carry Out the Work of the Great White Throne Judgment?

By Witri, Indonesia

Editor’s Note: When the great white throne judgment prophesied in the Book of Revelation comes up, many brothers and sisters imagine that the Lord will come in the last days and be sitting on a great white throne, and then determine if people go up to heaven or down to hell based on what they’ve done. But is this how the prophecy will be fulfilled in reality? Witri gained a new understanding of the great white throne judgment through a period of investigation.

I’m a Christian from Indonesia; I was a Catholic along with my parents when I was a little girl. After getting married I followed my husband into Christianity and started learning to pray and read the Bible, and I threw myself into behaving according to the Lord’s words. I also watched a lot of videos about the great white throne judgment in the last days which were all made based on this prophecy in the Bible: “And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works” (Revelation 20:11–12). They said that the Lord would be sitting on a great white throne and judge people according to their deeds; whoever is of sin will descend into the great disaster to be punished, while those who are not of sin will be raptured into the kingdom of heaven. After watching these videos I became firmly convinced that they accurately described the judgment of the Lord upon His return. I also patted myself on the back for having accepted the Lord’s gospel and resolved to stay truer to His words so that when He returned to carry out His judgment, I could be taken up into the kingdom of heaven by Him.

There was a huge tsunami in Indonesia in 2004—a lot of people died. Every time I heard about a disaster I was aware that this was the wrath of God and that it was a warning from Him that the day of judgment is upon us. But then I thought about how I had been a believer for a number of years, and although I had been striving to put the Lord’s words into practice, wanting to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, when I encountered things in my actual life I was completely unable to do so. I had also failed to accomplish loving others as myself. For example, I would lose my temper when my husband or mother did something that I didn’t like. Plus when I heard that my mother-in-law had said something bad about me in front of my sister-in-law I felt really angry and then would say something bad about my mother-in-law in front of my sister-in-law, judging her behind her back. I was even greedy and vain, and followed worldly trends. I read this Bible verse and knew it was true: “Be you holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). God is holy, so anyone who is not holy cannot see His face. But I was constantly living in sin—how could I ever gain God’s approval? So I went to different churches and asked the pastors, “How can the issue of constantly sinning be resolved?” They all responded with, “When we sin we can come before God to confess, pray, and repent. Then the Lord will absolve us of our sins.” However, their responses didn’t resolve the issue at all—I kept living in the cycle of sinning and then confessing. Plus whenever I sinned I felt really afraid because I thought about how the Lord would sit at His great white throne in the last days, just like a judge, and then would judge us according to each one of our actions. I was always sinning, so would I be judged and condemned by the Lord? How could I possibly get into the kingdom of heaven? I felt really concerned.

In February 2018 my husband started joining online gatherings. They were all in English so I couldn’t really understand, but I saw that he was so happy every day and became more engaged in his faith than he had been before. This piqued my curiosity. One day he told me that the Lord Jesus had already returned and had begun the work of judgment. I was really surprised to hear him say this and thought that I hadn’t seen any signs of the judgment like it had been portrayed in those videos, so how could it have already started? My response was, “If the Lord Jesus had returned He would be sitting on the great white throne judging us, and believers would have been taken up into heaven while unbelievers would have been destroyed in the great disaster. But none of that has happened, so how is it possible that He has started the work of judgment?” “The Lord returning to do the work of judgment,” he said, “is not the way we’ve imagined it. He has now become flesh to express the truth, and He’s judging us with His words.” Feeling more and more confused, I said, “How on earth could God judge us by uttering words? I’ve never heard any pastors or elders say anything like that.” Since my husband had accepted Almighty God’s work of the last days for a short time he wasn’t too clear on it either, so he didn’t offer much explanation. He later invited me to get online and join a gathering with them, which I didn’t want to do, but I saw how earnest he was. He advised me over and over to seriously listen to it before making up my mind. I knew that he’s someone who gives thought to things and is really serious about anything having to do with his faith, so there had to be a reason for him now believing that the Lord has returned.  So, wanting to get clarity on whether the Lord really had returned and was doing the work of judgment, I agreed to listen in. They then arranged for me to join a gathering with some local brothers and sisters here in Indonesia.

In the gathering, the sisters shared fellowship with me about my question. One said, “When God’s judgment in the last days comes up we think of these verses in Revelation: ‘And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works’(Revelation 20:11–12). Based on these verses, we’ve believed that when the Lord returns He will be sitting on a great white throne and judge us one by one according to what we’ve done over our lifetimes. We think that this is how He’ll determine whether we go up to heaven or down to hell. But have we thought about whether this understanding is in line with God’s will? Would the Lord work according to our own thinking? In fact, if we give it careful thought, we can easily see that the great white throne in the Book of Revelation is nothing more than a vision John saw on Patmos Island and is not a fact of God’s work. We cannot interpret the meaning of this prophecy based on notions and imaginings because it says in the Bible, ‘Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit’ (2 Peter 1:20–21). Prophecies come from God and we have to maintain a heart of reverence for God in our approach to the prophecies, not interpret them at will based on their literal meanings. Think back to the Age of Law of the Old Testament—the Pharisees of the time thought, based on the literal meaning of Scripture, that the Messiah would be born in a palace and hold official power. But the exact opposite was true; the Lord Jesus wasn’t born in a palace but in a manger. He was the son of a poor carpenter and He certainly didn’t hold any kind of official power. Because of the gap between the facts of the Lord’s coming and what people imagined, the Pharisees stubbornly clung to their notions and wouldn’t acknowledge that the Lord Jesus was the coming of the Messiah. They refused to accept the truths that He spoke and they nailed Him to the cross, committing a grievous sin. So we should learn this lesson from history and not rely on our notions and imaginings for our understanding of prophecies.”

I knew it was true. Prophecies come from God and shouldn’t be distorted by us humans. This sister’s fellowship was very reasonable and in line with the Bible. I thought about how the videos I had watched before that described the scene of the great white throne judgment had really lined up with my understanding of the Bible, so I agreed with them. But thinking about it after hearing this fellowship, I saw that we are all people who are corrupted by Satan, so how could we see into the work of God? God’s thinking and God’s wisdom are more elevated than man’s and prophecies come from God, so only God can know exactly how they will be fulfilled. We can’t delimit them based on what we imagine.

I then asked this sister, “Your fellowship makes sense. We really can’t go by the literal meaning of prophecies, but what I don’t understand is how God will do the great white throne judgment, then. What does it say in the Bible? Could you share some fellowship on that?”

“Thanks be to God,” she said. “Let’s look at a few Scripture verses on this topic. ‘For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God’ (1 Peter 4:17), ‘For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son’ (John 5:22), ‘And has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man’ (John 5:27), ‘And if any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day’ (John 12:47–48). We can see from these Bible verses that when the Lord Jesus comes in the last days He will use words to do the work of judgment beginning with the house of God, and this work of judgment will be done by the Son of man. This ‘Son of man’ means that He is born from a human being and possesses normal humanity. That is, only God in the flesh can be called the Son of man; God’s Spirit can’t be called that. Almighty God has now come in secret; He has become flesh and uttered millions of words to judge mankind. This work of judgment is God’s great white throne judgment, and all those who are able to accept the judgment and chastisement of God’s words are those who welcome the Lord’s return—they are those who accept the great white throne judgment.

“Now let’s take a look at a couple of passages of Almighty God’s words to better understand the great white throne judgment. Almighty God says: ‘God does not judge man one by one, and He does not test man one by one; to do thus would not be the work of judgment. Is not the corruption of all mankind the same? Is not the essence of all mankind the same? What is judged is mankind’s corrupt essence, man’s essence corrupted by Satan, and all the sins of man. God does not judge the trifling and insignificant faults of man. The work of judgment is representative, and it is not carried out especially for a certain person. Rather, it is work in which a group of people are judged in order to represent the judgment of all of mankind. By personally carrying out His work on a group of people, God in the flesh uses His work to represent the work of the whole of mankind, after which it is gradually spread. This is also how the work of judgment is. God does not judge a certain kind of person or a certain group of people, but instead judges the unrighteousness of the whole of mankind—man’s opposition to God, for example, or man’s irreverence toward Him, or man’s disturbance of the work of God, and so on. What is judged is mankind’s essence of opposition to God, and this work is the work of conquest of the last days. The work and word of the incarnate God witnessed by man are the work of judgment before the great white throne during the last days, which was conceived by man during times past. The work that is currently being done by the incarnate God is exactly the judgment before the great white throne.’ ‘Today’s work of conquest is intended to make it obvious what man’s end will be. Why do I say that today’s chastisement and judgment are judgment before the great white throne of the last days? Do you not see this? Why is the work of conquest the final stage? Is it not precisely to make manifest what kind of ending each class of man will meet? Is it not to allow everyone, in the course of the work of conquest of chastisement and judgment, to show their true colors and then afterward to be classified according to their kind? Rather than saying this is conquering mankind, it might be better to say that this is showing what kind of ending there will be for each class of person. This is about judging people’s sins and then revealing the various classes of person, thereby deciding whether they are evil or righteous. After the work of conquest, then comes the work of rewarding good and punishing evil. People who obey completely—meaning the thoroughly conquered—will be placed in the next step of spreading God’s work to the entire universe; the unconquered will be placed in darkness and will meet with calamity. Thus will man be classified according to kind, the evildoers grouped with evil, to be without the light of the sun ever again, and the righteous grouped with good, to receive light and live forever in the light.

“We can understand from God’s words that God’s work of judgment in the last days is not like what we had imagined, where God will sit on a great white throne with all people below accepting judgment one by one, and then He will decide whether each person goes up to heaven or down to hell based on their individual behavior throughout life. If people were judged that way not a single one of us would be qualified to enter the kingdom of heaven. Since all of humanity has been so deeply corrupted by Satan and we’re all full of corrupt, satanic dispositions, even after we come to believe in the Lord and superficially we behave better—we become happy to do good, we don’t fight with or yell at people, and we’re able to work hard for the Lord—this doesn’t mean that we’re compatible with the Lord, or that we’re obedient to Him. For example, when other people speak or act in a way that we don’t like we’ll often get into conflict with them; we can’t even practice tolerance or patience. Sometimes we lie or cheat for our own face or interests; when someone else impinges on our personal interests we come to hate them, or even take revenge. We’re constantly living in a state of sinning and then confessing. If God were to pass judgment based on our behavior over the course of our lives, wouldn’t we all be destroyed by Him? Plus, God doesn’t just judge a portion of people or one nation of people, but does the work of judging all of humanity. Whether it’s in Asia, the Americas, or Europe, everyone has the same essence, which has been corrupted by Satan. So, God has pre-selected a group of people for His judgment, and after they’re conquered by God they’re used to expand His work throughout the entire universe. This way, all those who accept God’s work of the last days are the recipients of God’s judgment.

“God is now fully saving us from sin in accordance with our needs so that we may escape its shackles—He Himself has become flesh and is quietly working in our midst, uttering words and doing the work of judging and purifying mankind. He is first conquering and perfecting those who have heard His voice, and once there is a group of people who have undergone the judgment and chastisement of His words and have been cleansed, He will openly appear to all nations and all peoples. All sorts of disasters will occur and all people will be sorted according to their kind. And all those who haven’t accepted God’s work of judgment, who have not been cleansed by God, will be subject to His righteous punishment. These are the two stages of God’s work of judgment. When the great disaster falls is not when God’s great white throne judgment will be beginning, but when it will fully draw to a close. That’s when all those who have accepted God’s work of His secret coming, who have undergone His judgment and have had their corruption cleansed, will be led by God into His kingdom. They will dance and jump for joy! However, those who have denied and condemned God throughout His period of hidden work will ultimately descend into many years of never-before-seen disasters in which they will be punished by God. This is God’s great white throne judgment in the last days.”

Carefully thinking over this sister’s fellowship, I finally gained a bit of understanding. Nodding my head, I said, “Before I was always afraid of being condemned and unable to get into heaven when the Lord comes, but now through this fellowship I understand that God’s work of judgment will be separated into two stages—His coming in secret and His coming openly. The work of the judgment of words that Almighty God is doing right now is to cleanse mankind of our sins, to lead people into God’s kingdom. What I used to think of as judgment before the great white throne will actually happen after His judgment work had been finished. If I wait until then to accept it, it will be too late. God working this way truly is so wise! God is so righteous!”

I let go of my notions after hearing this sister’s fellowship and became willing to continue seeking and investigating Almighty God’s work of the last days. However, I still wasn’t entirely clear on how God uses words to purify people. She later read another passage of Almighty God’s words for me to help me find the answer.

Almighty God says: “In the last days, Christ variety of truths to teach man, to expose the substance of man, and to dissect the words and deeds of man. These words comprise various truths, such as man’s duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and the disposition of God, and so on. These words are all directed at the substance of man and his corrupt disposition. It also allows man to recognize and know his corrupt essence and the roots of his corruption, as well as to discover the ugliness of man. These effects are all brought about by the work of judgment, for the essence of this work is actually the work of opening up the truth, the way, and the life of God to all those who have faith in Him. This work is the work of judgment done by God.

This sister went on in fellowship: “For God’s work of judgment in the last days, He’s not just expressing a few sentences or a few pages, but He has already expressed all sorts of aspects of the truth, exposing every kind of satanic nature and poison that are within us, while also pointing out the path to transform our dispositions. In the past we just recognized some surface-level sins such as theft, adultery, lying, and so on, but we had a very hard time recognizing our deeper satanic natures and poisons. Our satanic natures include being arrogant, self-important, selfish, despicable, crooked, and cunning, and then there are satanic poisons like ‘Every man for himself and the devil take the hindmost,’ ‘Man will do anything to get rich,’ ‘We will not attack unless we are attacked; if we are attacked, we will certainly counterattack,’ and ‘No pain, no gain.’ These things are the root of our sins. For example, when someone else says or does something that we don’t like, we may be able to tolerate it a few times but we’ll start harboring anger, and then when the time is right we’ll blow up. That happens because our internal arrogant and self-important nature hasn’t been resolved. And because of our satanic nature of being greedy for money and fame, although we well know that we can’t follow the trends of the world, when there’s temptation around us we just can’t help but go that route. Through the judgment of God’s words and the various circumstances that God arranges we’re tested, refined, pruned, and dealt with. Then we finally gain a bit of understanding of these corrupt dispositions within us as well as God’s righteous and majestic disposition and develop a heart of reverence for God. Only then can we truly detest ourselves, become willing to forsake the flesh and put the truth into practice, achieving the ability to live out a true human likeness as God requires of us. By continually undergoing God’s judgment and chastisement we’ll become more and more cleansed of our corrupt dispositions; our perspectives on things and our outlook on life will also be changed. This way we can gradually become people who obey and fear God—we can achieve true compatibility with God. All those who experience God’s practical judgment can personally verify that only God’s judgment can cleanse people of their satanic dispositions—God’s judgment of us is love and full salvation.”

Hearing her fellowship, I had a sense of how practical God’s work is. I realized that the judgment and chastisement of words were to expose and judge our corrupt dispositions and the root of our sinfulness. It was something that had never occurred to me before. Whenever I sinned in the past I would just pray and ask for the Lord’s forgiveness, but ultimately that didn’t help at all, because after that I still couldn’t stop myself from sinning again. I saw that it was because I hadn’t recognized my own corrupt disposition and the root of my sin. I needed to carefully read Almighty God’s words and recognize my corrupt disposition—that’s the only way I can be cleansed of my corruption.

Over the period of time that followed I read a lot of Almighty God’s words as well as experiences and testimonies from brothers and sisters. I gained understanding of the mysteries of God’s three stages of work, the inside story behind the Bible, the significance of God’s names, which people are eliminated and which can remain, how to achieve full salvation, and more. All of these mysteries are things that only God Himself could reveal—I became certain that Almighty God’s words are the truth and that they are God’s voice. And so, I accepted Almighty God’s work of the last days.

After that I gained some understanding of my corrupt disposition by constantly reading Almighty God’s words that judge and expose mankind. I saw that when my mother-in-law said something bad about me to my sister-in-law behind my back, my reaction was to respond in kind to my mother-in-law behind her back. I realized I was completely lacking patience and tolerance. It was just “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.” It was evil and lacking in humanity. When I realized this I became willing to truly repent and seek to live out proper humanity. From then on, even though sometimes I heard that she had said something unkind about me—it was upsetting and I wanted to lash out at her—but I recognized that that was my corrupt disposition flaring up, so I would waste no time in coming before God and praying. Gradually, the resentment in my heart dissipated and I was able to interact with my mother-in-law properly. I have really experienced that the only way to be cleansed of my corrupt disposition is to be exposed by God’s words. God’s judgment of me truly is love and salvation. My desire is to experience more of the judgment and revealing of God’s words so that I may become purified soon and be completed by God!

When the Lord Returns Will He Do so in the Form of a Man?

By Joey, the United States

Editor’s Note: Many people have seen in the Bible how the God of heaven refers to the Lord Jesus as His beloved Son and how the Lord Jesus prays to the God of heaven calling Him Father. As such, they come to believe that the gender of God is male and that when the Lord returns, He must do so as a man. However, does this idea accord with the truth? Will the Lord appear and do work according to people’s notions? Today, let us look for the answer together in Joey’s experiences.

An Outdoor Movie Provided a Spiritual Awakening

One evening in June of 2018 while supervising my son as he played in the park, I happened to notice that some people were projecting a movie nearby, so, curious, I walked over to see what movie was playing. It turned out they were showing the Christian documentary, The One Who Holds Sovereignty Over Everything. The film featured majestic and beautiful scenes and the music was as melodious as the singing of angels. I was immediately drawn in and took out my phone to record the movie as I watched. I couldn’t help but gasp with admiration. In just ninety short minutes, the movie covered how God has commanded and ruled man’s fate from the time of genesis up until the present day. What a magnificent film!

I saw in the end credits that the film had been produced by The Church of Almighty God and thought to myself that this must be a very good church to be able to bear such great testament to God. This led me to think of my own church by comparison: The pastors’ sermons were uninspired and they only talked about making donations to the church and being wary of other denominations. The sermons were so boring that many parishioners would end up falling asleep while listening. The pastors were also very money-minded—they didn’t pay the least bit of attention to the poorer parishioners, but would pull out all the stops for the richer parishioners, greeting them as they came and seeing them out after services. I very much disliked how the pastors went against God’s teachings and failed to treat people equally. Later, I went to a different church to investigate, but the situation there was more or less the same. Having thought of all this, I became very sad—it was as if the church no longer had the presence of God. I thought of how the pastors would often say that these are the end times, the prophecies of the Lord’s coming have been fulfilled and He will soon return. Yet, the only church in the world to bear testimony to the news of the Lord’s return is Eastern Lightning and they say that He has come back as a woman to appear and do work. This is impossible! The Bible clearly states that the relationship between Jehovah God and the Lord Jesus is “Father and Son”—this proves that God is male and that when He comes back, He will also definitely be male. How could He become a woman?

Feeling Conflicted After an Encounter With Eastern Lightning

Half a year later, I attended a birthday celebration for a friend of mine. At the celebration, I met a preacher named Brother Liu and several other brothers and sisters with whom I was unacquainted. Because the pastors had always warned us to be wary of strangers preaching the way of Eastern Lightning, I was, at the time, careful to keep them at arm’s length. Despite that, everyone was speaking in a free and unrestrained manner about their experiences with their belief in God as well as the dire state of the church. When it was time to eat, the preacher Brother Liu said grace and led prayer, saying, “Dear God! We all feel as though the church is in a bleak and desolate state and has encountered all manner of difficulties. We all anxiously await Your appearance and yearn to find a church that has the work of the Holy Spirit. Oh God! We are willing to hand this problem over to You and ask that You guide us! We believe that our meeting here today is with Your kind intentions and ask that You guide us brothers and sisters as we fellowship.” In stark contrast to the high-flown rhetoric that I was used to hearing in the pastors’ prayers, the brother’s prayer felt very kind and sincere—each word seemed to speak my innermost thoughts. Just this short prayer had already drawn me much closer to the brothers and sisters and had allowed me to open up after initially having been very closed off. It was as if these brothers and sisters that I had just met were already very close friends.

While we were eating, I confided to the brothers and sisters how I had been confused over the bleakness and desolation in the church. Brother Liu said that the reason for the bleakness and desolation in the church was that most of the religious leaders failed to respect and follow the Lord’s word, didn’t guide believers in practicing the Lord’s word, didn’t take lawless acts in the church seriously, only explained biblical knowledge to show themselves off, didn’t testify to or exalt God in the least, and had completely diverged from God’s way. As such, they had lost the work of the Holy Spirit. He also discussed how the fact that so many lawless acts went on in the church was a sign that God had already left the religious places and that the Holy Spirit no longer worked there. He said that if one wanted to attain the work of the Holy Spirit, they must search for God’s footsteps. I felt that Brother Liu’s fellowship was very insightful and had the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit and so I hurriedly took out a pen and paper and took notes as he spoke.

After dinner, Brother Liu fellowshiped with us regarding the way in which the Lord returns, the mystery and truth of the incarnation, the truth of the three stages of God’s work, and how to discern between the true Christ and false Christs, among other topics. From listening to the brother’s fellowship, it seemed to me that he was testifying that the Lord Jesus had already returned. I also heard the brother mention the phrase “the lightning comes out of the east” several times. I was shocked and couldn’t help but ask: “Brother Liu, is what you’ve said today the preaching of Eastern Lightning? I’ve heard that only people from Eastern Lightning testify that the Lord has returned.”

The brother smiled and nodded his head saying, “That’s right, sister, the Lord Jesus truly has returned. The name Eastern Lightning comes precisely from Lord Jesus’ prophecy, ‘For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be’ (Matthew 24:27). What this prophecy is saying is that God’s work in the last days will be short and quick, just like a bolt of lightning—”

Before Brother Liu had finished speaking, I could already tell that he was indeed preaching an Eastern Lightning sermon, and so I made an excuse to leave. When I returned home, I felt conflicted and very unhappy—I didn’t want to acknowledge that the sermon which Brother Liu had preached was that of Eastern Lightning. I thought to myself, “Brother Liu’s fellowship was so insightful and illuminating, nothing like the heresies the pastors spout. Did I misunderstand Brother Liu?” I couldn’t help but go online and search for Eastern Lightning. The information I found said that Eastern Lightning does indeed testify that the Lord has returned as a woman. I felt deeply unsettled, thinking to myself, “If that’s the case then the preachings of Eastern Lightning certainly can’t be right. There is just no way that the Lord will return as a woman. If you take the wrong road you can always turn around and go back, but if you betray God, there’s no taking it back. In the future, I shouldn’t listen to any more of their preaching.”

However, I couldn’t get the news of the Lord’s return out of my mind. That night, I absentmindedly opened up the notebook containing the notes I had made that day during the birthday celebration and thought back on Brother Liu’s fellowship. I thought to myself, “In all my years in the church, I never understood the truths that Brother Liu fellowshiped on today. Could it be that the God to which Eastern Lightning testifies truly is the returned Lord Jesus? If I don’t go and listen and miss out on the opportunity to welcome the Lord’s return, will I have not practiced faith in vain all these years? But Eastern Lightning is clearly wrong to testify that the Lord has returned as a woman. The Bible says that Jehovah is God the Father and the Lord Jesus is the Holy Son, They are both men. So when the Lord comes back, He should be a man, and cannot possibly be a woman….” I went back and forth arguing with myself and, not knowing what to do, I silently prayed to God saying, “Lord! I think Brother Liu fellowshiped very well and his preaching was in keeping with the Bible. I’m worried that if I don’t continue to listen and You do really come, I’ll have missed my opportunity. Yet, I also worry that maybe I’m wrong to continue listening and may, in this way, betray You. I just don’t know what to do now. Dear God, please help and guide me.”

Notions Are the Root Cause of Delimitation of God

Thanks be to God, not long after I finished my prayer, a friend called me and invited me to come listen to a sermon together. The friend also recommended that I directly voice my confusions to Brother Liu and seek to understand the relevant truth, and only make a decision about whether I would continue to listen after my confusions had been resolved. The friend’s words were a total revelation for me. Of course! Wrong or right, I should wait until I had sought and understood before coming to a decision. In this way, I wouldn’t have to go back and forth with myself as I had been. If I never resolved my confusions and lived blindly through my own notions without listening to this other perspective and it turned out that the God to whom Eastern Lightning bears witness truly is the returned Lord Jesus, then I would be resisting and abandoning God and my regret would come too late. As such, I decided to go and listen to Brother Liu’s fellowship with my friend.

On this, my second time meeting Brother Liu, I asked him, “Brother, you say that Eastern Lightning is the appearance and work of the returned Lord Jesus, but I’ve heard that Eastern Lightning claims that the Lord Jesus has come again as a woman, how can this be?”

The brother smiled and said, “Sister, is there any evidence in the Bible to support our belief that when the Lord comes again He will not do so in female form? Did the Lord Jesus say this? Did the prophets prophesy this? If not, then is this belief not based on our notions and imagination? Is it not our own delimitation? God has said: ‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, said Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts’ (Isaiah 55:8–9). God is the Lord of creation, His ways are wondrous and unpredictable. Thus, each time God performs a stage of work, it will invariably exceed our notions and imagination. Especially with something as important as the Lord’s return, would it not be even more likely to be invested with God’s wisdom? If we always delimit and measure God’s work according to our own thoughts, we will invariably resist God! This would be just like how the Pharisees, having read in Scripture that the Messiah would be their salvation, went by their own notions and imagination in thinking that when God returned, His name must be Messiah and He must be of royal birth. However, when the Lord Jesus came to do His work, the circumstances of His arrival profoundly contradicted people’s prior notions—He was not called the Messiah, was born in a manger (not in the royal palace) and grew up in a family of carpenters. Though the Pharisees clearly knew that the Lord Jesus’ words and work had authority and power, they didn’t investigate or seek. Rather, because the Lord Jesus’ work didn’t fit with their notions and imagination, they did not recognize Him as the Messiah and nailed Him to the cross, ultimately offending God’s disposition and becoming evil-doing resistors of God. Thus, we ought to take the Pharisees as an example and refrain from delimiting God’s work as they did at all costs. No matter how much God’s work doesn’t accord with our notions, we ought to humbly and modestly seek with regard to His work.”

After hearing Brother Liu’s fellowship, I felt thoroughly convinced and ashamed. I thought, “That’s right, God is the Creator. How could I, a human being as insignificant as a mote of dust, ever comprehend and delimit the work of God in all His exaltedness? If I don’t understand, I can first submit and begin seeking!”

Learning the True Meaning of “The Father and the Son”

Having realized all this, I said, “Brother Liu, what you’ve fellowshiped is true, no one can fathom God’s thoughts. If we delimit God based upon our notions, we are likely to resist God. I shouldn’t cling to my own notions and should seek the truth with regard to that which I don’t understand. Because in the past I had seen that, in the Bible, the Lord Jesus refers to Jehovah God as Father and Jehovah God refers to the Lord Jesus as His beloved Son, I thought that when the Lord returns He will come as a man and not as a woman because “Father” and “Son” are both male appellations. If my understanding is incorrect, why does the Bible record it as such? I don’t understand this, could you fellowship for us on this point?”

Brother Liu smiled and nodded his head, saying, “Sister, you’ve raised a good question. Many people believe that God must be male based on the fact that the Bible records how the Holy Spirit testifies that the Lord Jesus is the “beloved Son” and the Lord Jesus prays to the God of heaven as “Father.” Actually, this is entirely because we don’t understand God’s will and interpret scriptures based upon our literal understanding of the text. So what is meant by “Father and Son” as is written in the Bible? Almighty God’s word has revealed this aspect of the truth and mystery for us. Let’s see what Almighty God has to say on this issue. Sister, do you mind reading this passage?”

I read: “When Jesus called God in heaven by the name of Father as He prayed, this was done only from the perspective of a created man, only because the Spirit of God had put on an ordinary and normal flesh and had the exterior cover of a created being. Even if within Him was the Spirit of God, His exterior appearance was still that of a normal man; in other words, He had become the ‘Son of man’ of which all men, including Jesus Himself, spoke. Given that He is called the Son of man, He is a person (whether man or woman, in any case one with the exterior shell of a human being) born into a normal family of ordinary people. Therefore, Jesus calling God in heaven by the name of Father was the same as how you at first called Him Father; He did so from the perspective of a created man. Do you still remember the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus taught you to memorize? ‘Our Father in heaven….’ He asked all men to call God in heaven by the name of Father. And since He too called Him Father, He did so from the perspective of one who stands on an equal footing with you all.” “There are still those who say, ‘Did not God expressly state that Jesus was His beloved Son?’ Jesus is the beloved Son of God, in whom He is well pleased—this was certainly spoken by God Himself. That was God bearing witness to Himself, but merely from a different perspective, that of the Spirit in heaven bearing witness to His own incarnation. Jesus is His incarnation, not His Son in heaven. Do you understand? Do not the words of Jesus, ‘I am in the Father, and the Father in Me,’ indicate that They are one Spirit? And is it not because of the incarnation that They were separated between heaven and earth? In reality, They are still one; no matter what, it is simply God bearing witness to Himself.

When I finished reading God’s word, Brother Liu fellowshiped saying: “Almighty God’s word states very clearly, the Lord Jesus is the incarnation of God Himself, He is God’s Spirit in human form and is Jehovah God coming to earth to do His work. As for when the Lord Jesus was baptized and a voice called out saying “This is My beloved Son,” this was God speaking from the perspective of the Spirit to bear witness to the fact that the Lord Jesus is the incarnation of God Himself. This is because, at the time, this was the first time that God had incarnated in the flesh to do His work and man was not yet acquainted with God incarnate. They even treated God incarnate like a normal human being. As such, if the Holy Spirit had testified that the Lord Jesus was God Himself, no one at the time would have accepted it and this would have had a negative influence on the development of God’s work of redemption. Thus, God adjusted His testimony to the stature of the people at that time, testifying that the Lord Jesus is the beloved Son of God. This facilitated people’s acceptance of the Lord Jesus’ salvation. As for why the Lord Jesus called Jehovah God “Father” in His prayers, this was because the Lord Jesus was incarnated as the Son of man, and so He prayed to the Spirit of God from the perspective of a created being. From this, we can see that God was particularly humble and hidden and didn’t reveal Himself as God the Creator. In this way, He didn’t give people the impression that God is unfathomable and unapproachable, which allowed people to draw closer to Him. However, we cannot claim that the Lord Jesus and the God of heaven are “Father and Son” just because the Lord Jesus called God “Father.” This is unsuitable. What’s more, as soon as God’s work in incarnated form was finished and the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, there was no longer any “Father and Son” relationship to speak of. Thus, these names do not refer to God being male—we must understand the true meaning of the scriptures. Gender is a distinction which can be made among created beings, but if we say God is a man or woman, this is tantamount to treating God like any normal human being. This is blasphemous to God, and He detests such behavior.”

After hearing God’s word and Brother Liu’s fellowship, everything suddenly made sense. I said, “As it turns out, this passage of scripture is not talking about God’s gender. When the Lord Jesus referred to Jehovah God as “Father,” He did so from the perspective of a created being. The notion that God is a man was merely the product of my imagination. I really was delimiting God!”

Doing Away With Past Notions, I Learned of the Mystery of God’s Gender

Brother smiled and continued his fellowship, saying, “Now let us fellowship a little more. Why is it that God has incarnated in the last days to do His work as a woman? What is the meaning of this? Let us see what Almighty God has to say about this. Sister, why don’t you read a little more for us!”

I looked at my computer and with much concentration, I read the following passage, “Each stage of work done by God has its own practical significance. At the time, Jesus, in doing His work, was called the only Son, and ‘Son’ implies the male gender. Why is the only Son not mentioned in this current stage? Because the requirements of the work have necessitated a change in gender from that of Jesus. With God there is no distinction of gender. He does His work as He wishes, and in doing His work He is not subject to any restrictions, but is especially free. Yet every stage of work has its own practical significance. God became flesh twice, and it is self-evident that His incarnation during the last days is the final time. He has come to make known all His deeds. If in this stage He did not become flesh in order personally to do work for man to witness, man would forever cling to the notion that God is only male, not female.

If God came into the flesh only as a male, people would define Him as male, as the God of men, and would never believe Him to be the God of women. Men would then hold that God is of the same gender as men, that God is the head of men—but what then of women? This is unfair; is it not preferential treatment? If this were the case, then all those whom God saved would be men like Him, and not one woman would be saved. When God created mankind, He created Adam and He created Eve. He did not only create Adam, but made both male and female in His image. God is not only the God of men—He is also the God of women.

Brother Liu fellowshiped saying, “Actually, God was originally the Spirit, and had no gender to speak of. It was only because of the particular requirements of the work of salvation that God became flesh and took on male or female form. However, no matter whether God incarnates as a male or a female, in essence He is still God Himself and is capable of issuing the truth and completing God’s work of salvation of mankind. If the Lord Jesus had carried out that stage of work in female form, He still would have completed the work of redemption of mankind. God’s work is not at all restricted by gender. What’s more, God has a complete understanding of our nature and knows that we are liable to delimit Him, so He knew that if He had once again incarnated in male form, people would develop the notion that God is eternally male and this would be a blasphemy to God. We would also come to believe that men are more important than women and, as such, women would always think of themselves as inferior to men. This would be in complete contradiction to God’s original intent in creating mankind. God is the Lord of all created beings. Not only did He create men, He also created women. Not only does He save men, He also saves women. So God’s incarnation in the last days as a woman, is a refutation of man’s notions and helps us to resolve our conceptions of God and no longer delimit God. We can see from this that God’s incarnation in the last days as a woman is extremely meaningful and is done so that He may save mankind more efficaciously. From this, we can observe God’s love and, even more so, His almightiness and wisdom.”

After hearing God’s words and Brother Liu’s fellowship, I attained a clear understanding. I knew that God has no gender and only incarnates and takes on male or female form to save mankind. However, no matter whether His fleshly body is male or female, in essence, He is still God Himself and can carry out God’s work of salvation of mankind. At the same time, God’s incarnation as a woman truly is a retort against our notions. Just as how, insofar as I always believed that God is male, if God didn’t change His gender this time, I would have delimited God as being male, which is tantamount to regarding the incarnated Christ as a mere man. This is a blasphemy to God. Thanks be to God for guiding me to reverse my ridiculous conceptions regarding God.

I excitedly said, “Brother Liu, now I completely understand—no matter whether the incarnation of God is a man or a woman, He always is an incarnation of the Spirit of God and is capable of doing the work of salvation of mankind. Thanks be to God. I always thought that your fellowship of the truth was great and insightful, but I just couldn’t get the notion out of my head that ‘God could not become a woman.’ As a result, I almost failed to investigate. Thanks be to God! It’s a good thing I came, because now I completely understand.”

The sisters and brothers were all very happy to hear what I had said and after we had all discussed our thoughts and reflections, Brother Liu suggested that we watch a movie. When I saw that the movie he wanted to play was The One Who Holds Sovereignty Over Everything, I was so surprised and excitedly remarked: “I’ve seen this movie, it’s beautifully filmed! Before, I didn’t know that The Church of Almighty God is what people often call Eastern Lightning and really wanted to know where this Church of Almighty God was. As it turns out, you are all brothers and sisters of The Church of Almighty God. Thanks be to God!”

Putting Faith in Almighty God, Starting a New Life

After that, I began participating in The Church of Almighty God’s church life. This church life is full of God’s abundant supply—there are movies, videos, song and dance videos, stage musicals, music videos, skits, cross talk and more. They have everything you could possibly think of and so there’s no end to the enjoyment. During meetings, my brothers and sisters all fellowship about their understanding of God’s word, everyone lays bare their own corruption and seeks the truth to find the resolution. This kind of church life is just great and is very beneficial for my life entry. In this short time, I’ve already noticed clear improvements in my life entry and my relationship with God is more and more normal. Thanks and praise be to Almighty God!

Understanding the Parable of the Wise Virgins and Welcoming the Lord

By Qingxin, United States

Wondering Whether I Was a Wise Virgin

Long ago, I saw many pastors say online, “We are in Lord the last days, and many biblical prophecies have been fulfilled, such as the blood moons, earthquakes, tsunamis, plagues, famines, and the restoration of Israel—the Lord is coming very soon. Only by being like the wise virgins and preparing oil can we welcome the Lord’s return. This requires us to fast and pray more, frequently attend Holy Communion, read the Bible more, diligently do the Lord’s work, and wait watchfully.” Then I started practicing according to what the pastors said. But after a few years of this, no matter how I read the Bible, prayed, and attended meetings, there was no steadiness in my heart; and I kept wondering, “Can carrying on like this really make me a wise virgin and welcome the Lord’s return?”

The True Manifestation of Being a Wise Virgin

In October 2018, I met Brother Liu by chance. During our conversation, I learned that he had believed in the Lord for many years, and I found that he knew a lot about the Bible, had unique understanding and insight into it, and fellowshiped better than my church’s pastor. We had a good talk. Just before our conversation ended, Brother Liu invited me to join his Bible study group, and thinking that I would benefit more from it, I happily agreed.

When the day of the meeting arrived, I went to Brother Liu’s Bible study group for a Bible study session, and after everyone made a self-introduction, Sister Li Yue began leading us to study the Bible. Thinking of my puzzlement, I couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Li, I’ve listened to many sermons online, and know that now is the last days. The pastors tell us to wait watchfully, read the Bible more, and persist in making offerings so that we can become wise virgins and welcome the Lord’s return. But after practicing like this for so many years, I haven’t received the Lord’s coming though the prophecies of His return have basically been fulfilled. This makes me more and more insecure. Will I really be able to become a wise virgin and welcome the Lord by acting this way?”

Sister Li responded, “Sister, you’ve brought up a key issue. All of us want to be wise virgins who can welcome the Lord’s return and attend the banquet of the kingdom of heaven with Him—no one wants to be a foolish virgin and be cast aside by the Lord, but what kind of practice is actually being a wise virgin? Let’s fellowship on this question now. A lot of believers in the Lord think that, as long as we keenly pursue our faith, often read the Bible, pray and listen to the pastors’ expounding on the Bible, and work and expend for the Lord, we are being wise virgins preparing oil. But are wise virgins really like this? Let’s look back on the scribes and Pharisees in the Age of Law—they longed for the arrival of the Messiah, and they not only were familiar with the Scripture and proficient in the law but also traveled to the far corners of the earth to preach the gospel, and suffered so much. If we say these actions count as preparing oil, then they should have been able to welcome the arrival of the Messiah. But in actual fact, the opposite happened. When the Lord Jesus came to work, they not only failed to recognize that He was the Messiah, but also frantically suppressed and condemned His work. In the end, they crucified the Lord, thus offending God’s disposition. From their example, we can see that often reading the Bible and praying and working hard for the Lord doesn’t mean that one is a wise virgin. So what can we do to become wise virgins? Let’s think back to how the Jews and those disciples who followed the Lord Jesus recognized Him when He did His work. We probably all know the story of the Samaritan woman. When she was talking with the Lord Jesus, the Lord Jesus said, ‘For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly’ (John 4:18). She was amazed to hear the Lord reveal her secrets buried in her heart. She realized that only God could observe people’s hearts and give voice to their inner secrets, thus recognized the Lord Jesus as the appearance of the Messiah. Let’s take a look at Peter, John, and Nathanael. After hearing the Lord’s sermons, they recognized the Lord as the prophesied Messiah, and then forsook everything to follow Him. Only such people are wise virgins. It’s clear that, if we wish to become wise virgins and store up oil to welcome the Lord’s return, then it is crucial to be able to recognize the Lord’s voice. Just as the Lord Jesus prophesied, ‘And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him’ (Matthew 25:6). ‘Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me’ (Revelation 3:20). We can see from this that the Lord is speaking to search for His sheep upon His return in the last days. All those who listen closely to God’s voice and thereby seek and investigate whether the Lord has returned are wise virgins, and will have the chance to welcome the Lord’s return and attend the banquet with Him. Contrarily, those who pay no attention to listening to God’s voice and don’t seek and investigate God’s words are foolish virgins, and will be abandoned by the Lord when He returns.”

After listening to this fellowship, I suddenly realized, “It turns out that often reading the Bible and praying, persisting in making offerings and working for the Lord aren’t wise virgins preparing oil. Wise virgins preparing oil actually refers to focusing on hearing God’s voice. Just like Peter and the other disciples at that time, they followed the Lord and gained His salvation only after recognizing the voice of God in what He was teaching. The sister’s fellowship is well-founded and completely in accordance with the Lord’s words. How could I not have understood these things when I read the Bible before? It seems that I indeed lack too much. I truly didn’t come in vain today.”

How to Ascertain the Voice of God

Sister Li Yue said, “Now that wise virgins preparing oil refers to being able to recognize God’s voice, how can we ascertain it? Let’s have fellowship together.” Hearing this made me very happy. If I was able to recognize God’s voice, this meant that I would be able to welcome the Lord. Therefore, I listened even more intently to her fellowship.

Sister Li shared the following fellowship, “As we all know, God is the Creator and His utterances are different from any person’s words. Back then, when the Lord Jesus came to work, He said many words and revealed many mysteries. For example, before the Lord Jesus began His work, John the Baptist said, ‘Repent you: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand’ (Matthew 3:2). But since he was just a prophet, he could only spread the gospel of the heavenly kingdom and didn’t know the conditions for entry into it. It was not until after the Lord worked that these conditions were explained clearly. The Lord Jesus said, ‘Not every one that said to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of My Father which is in heaven’ (Matthew 7:21). ‘Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ (Matthew 18:3). Since God guards the gate to the heavenly kingdom, only God knows what kind of people it wants. This shows us that only God can reveal these mysteries. On the other hand, when the Lord Jesus did His work, He expressed new words that could provide people with the truth, give life to them, and point out the path of practice. For example, the Lord Jesus said, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself’ (Matthew 22:37–39). At that time, the Lord Jesus taught people to confess and repent, pursue truly loving Him, have love, tolerance, and patience for others, and so on. These are all ways to which people should adhere in the Age of Grace. Apart from these two aspects, God’s words carry God’s disposition. For instance, the Lord Jesus said, ‘Why I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come’ (Matthew 12:31–32). This shows us that God’s attitude toward those who slander and blaspheme Him is condemnation and curse, and that they shall not be forgiven in this life or in the afterlife. These words of the Lord have God’s authority and carry God’s majestic, wrathful, and unoffendable disposition; moreover, only God controls the fate of mankind and can decide man’s end. From the Lord Jesus’ words we’ve just read, we can see that God’s words possess God’s authority and power and carry God’s disposition, and they can reveal the mysteries unknown to people, express God’s will and requirements, and point out the path of practice for the new age. Such are the characteristics of God’s words and completely represent the unique identity and status of God. So, it won’t be wrong to discern whether something is the utterances of the returned God based on these few aspects.”

In the past when I read the Lord’s words, I only felt that they were right, and I simply paid no attention to their characteristics. Through the sister’s fellowship and taking another look at these words, I found that God’s words indeed had authority and power, represented God’s disposition and could bring to our hearts a shock. Then I said, “Only today have I realized that we can ascertain whether something is God’s voice from these aspects. I feel a lot more enlightened now. Thank God!”

Recognizing God’s Voice From These Utterances

Sister Li continued, saying, “Thanks be to God! Let’s now take turns to read a few passages of words and see whose utterances they are.” She then read out: “As now a new approach is used, all that from the past need not be said again. However, I have said these words: What I have said must be counted, what is counted must be completed, and this cannot be changed by anyone; this is absolute. Whether it be what I have said in the past or what I say in the future, all will come to be, and all of mankind will see this. This is the principle behind the work of My words. … Of everything that occurs in the universe, there is nothing that I do not have the final say in. What exists that is not in My hands? All that I say goes, and among men, who is there who can change My mind? Could it be the covenant I made on the earth? Nothing can hinder My plan; I am ever-present in My work as well as in the plan of My management. What man can interfere? Is it not I who has personally made these arrangements? Entering into this situation today, it still does not stray from My plan or what I foresaw; it was all determined by Me long ago. Who among you can fathom My plan for this step? My people will listen to My voice, and each and every one of those who truly love Me shall return before My throne” (“Chapter 1” of God’s Words to the Entire Universe).

Hearing this, I felt shocked in my heart, thinking, “Oh my! Who spoke these words? They use the first person ‘I’ and say ‘What I have said must be counted, what is counted must be completed, and this cannot be changed by anyone; this is absolute.’ No one dares speak from such perspective and with such a tone. No human being could have said these words.”

I then read the following: “You must know what kind of people I desire; those who are impure are not permitted to enter into the kingdom, those who are impure are not permitted to besmirch the holy ground. Though you may have done much work, and have worked for many years, in the end if you are still deplorably filthy—it is intolerable to the law of Heaven that you wish to enter My kingdom! From the foundation of the world until today, never have I offered easy access to My kingdom to those who curry favor with Me. This is a heavenly rule, and no one can break it!” (“Success or Failure Depends on the Path That Man Walks”). “My kingdom requires those who are honest, not hypocritical, and not deceitful. Aren’t the sincere and honest people unpopular in the world? I am just the opposite. It is acceptable for the honest people to come to Me; I delight in this kind of person, I also need this kind of person. This is precisely My righteousness” (“Chapter 33” of Utterances of Christ in the Beginning).

I thought: “Ah, these words also explain the standard for entry into the kingdom of heaven: Those who are filthy are not permitted to enter into it; even if one has worked for many years, if his sinful nature isn’t cleansed, then he still won’t be able to enter into God’s kingdom. The words ‘This is a heavenly rule, and no one can break it!’ seem like God’s words, and the tone is the same as that of the Lord Jesus’ words, which are full of authority and power.” At that moment, a sense of excitement welled up within me.

630""

Sister Li then went on reading: “Now is the time when I determine the ending for each person, not the stage in which I began to work man. I write down in My record book, one by one, the words and actions of each person, the path by which they have followed Me, their inherent characteristics, and how they have ultimately comported themselves. In this way, no matter what kind of person they are, no one shall escape My hand, and all shall be with their own kind as I assign. I decide the destination of each person not on the basis of age, seniority, amount of suffering, and least of all, the degree to which they invite pity, but according to whether they possess the truth. There is no other choice but this. You must realize that all those who do not follow the will of God shall also be punished. This is an immutable fact. Therefore, all those who are punished are so punished for the righteousness of God and as retribution for their numerous evil acts” (“Prepare Sufficient Good Deeds for Your Destination”).

Hearing this I immediately trembled with fear, and I felt as if God was speaking with majesty and wrath. I had never heard anything like this. These words were so authoritative and powerful. They were not things that people could express, because only God could decide man’s end. The sister then asked me, “Do you have an idea who spoke the words that have just been read?”

I replied excitedly, “No human being could have said these words. Who could decide man’s end? Only God could do this! Besides, the words say, ‘[T]hose who are impure are not permitted to enter into the kingdom.’ These words sound like that of the Lord Jesus. The Lord said, “Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). All these words tell us that we can’t enter into God’s kingdom if we’re still sinful. These words seem to originate from the same source as the Lord Jesus’ words. Sister, has the Lord returned? Otherwise, where did you get these words? And why are you able to discuss so much new understanding?”

Joyously Receiving the Lord’s Return

Sister Li said happily, “That’s right! Sister, the Lord Jesus we’ve longed for has returned.” She then opened the official website of The Church of Almighty God and continued saying, “Almighty God is the returned Lord Jesus. Since 1991, Almighty God has been working in China and has now expressed millions of words. He is performing the work of judgment beginning in God’s house on the foundation of the Lord Jesus’ work. This completely fulfills the biblical prophecies, ‘[J]udgment must begin at the house of God’ (1 Peter 4:17). ‘He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day’ (John 12:48). The words in The Word Appears in the Flesh and Records of Christ’s Talks on this website are the words that God has expressed in the last days to thoroughly save mankind. The words that we’ve just read are Almighty God’s words, and I came to an understanding of what I just talked about only from reading them. After hearing Almighty God’s words, we’ve seen that Almighty God and the Lord Jesus are the same God, that Almighty God’s words contain authority and power, carry God’s disposition and represent God’s authority and identity. The words of Almighty God we’ve just read mention that anything God says will certainly be fulfilled, and that no power can stop the expansion of God’s work. For example, although Almighty God’s work has suffered fanatical resistance and condemnation from the Chinese government and religious leaders, God’s gospel has still spread to all nations of the world. Nowadays, branches of The Church of Almighty God have been established in many foreign countries and regions, and people from all religions and denominations who truly believe in God, after hearing God’s utterances, have returned before His throne in droves. Moreover, Almighty God’s words tell us only honest people can enter into God’s kingdom; isn’t this the same as the standard set by the Lord Jesus? And from Almighty God’s words that determine the ends of all kinds of people, we can see God’s righteous and holy disposition. God has expressed many truths in this stage of work. Let’s read some more, then we’ll be able to better feel the authority of God’s words.”

When Sister Li finished, she took out many books, and I immediately caught sight of a book entitled The Scroll Opened by the Lamb. I remembered the Revelation prophesied that no one could open the little scroll, only the Lamb, God Himself, could do this. It seemed that the Lord really had returned and that Almighty God was the second coming of the Lord.

After that, Sister Li turned to the table of contents in The Scroll Opened by the Lamb, and passed it to me, saying, “Sister, this book is the little scroll prophesied in Revelation. The prophesy says only the Lamb can reveal the mysteries of the little scroll. Now the returned Lord Jesus, Almighty God, has accomplished this prophecy—the words uttered by Him reveal mysteries never before known by generations past, such as “Knowing the Three Stages of God’s Work Is the Path to Knowing God,” “The Work in the Age of Law,” “The True Story Behind the Work of the Age of Redemption,” “Christ Does the Work of Judgment With the Truth,” “The Mystery of the Incarnation (1)” to “The Mystery of the Incarnation (4),” “Restoring the Normal Life of Man and Taking Him to a Wonderful Destination,” “God and Man Will Enter Into Rest Together.” These words explain clearly the mystery of God’s management plan, the aim of God’s three stages of work to save mankind, how each stage goes higher and deeper than the last, God’s disposition, God’s wisdom, and God’s will and requirements for man in every stage of work. Only God understands His past work, and so only He can reveal these mysteries. Not only this, but there are also God’s admonitions and exhortations to man as well as prophecies on the beauty of the kingdom and mankind’s destination in Almighty God’s words. They are abundant and are really a feast for our eyes. This precisely fulfills the Lord Jesus’ prophecy, ‘I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come’ (John 16:12–13).”

Looking at the table of contents showed by the sister was astonishing to me. These words were all truths that I wanted to understand. Now that I knew wise virgins focused on listening to God’s words, I needed to carefully read Almighty God’s words and study them with heart. Then I said excitedly to the sister, “Can I have this book to read?” She happily nodded in response.

Sister Li said with a smile, “Thank God! Our ability to recognize God’s voice means we’ve welcomed the Lord and attended the wedding feast of the Lamb. We are so blessed!”

Yes! The Lord has finally returned! I’ve attended the feast. I never imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that I would ever be able to welcome the Lord Jesus, whom I have longed for day and night—God hasn’t abandoned me. Thinking this, I felt both happy and excited.

After I got home, I couldn’t wait to open up the book of Almighty God’s words to read, and every time I finished reading a passage, I felt like I benefited a lot. Later, through meetings and fellowship, I came to understand many aspects of the truth, such as the significance of God’s two incarnations, the mystery of God’s name, God’s six-thousand-year management plan, and God’s three stages of work. And I gained more and more knowledge of God’s work and perceived that my belief in God was no longer vague. In the past, I just believed vaguely and didn’t know where the Lord was, but now God incarnate lives amongst us practically and directly utters words to supply us, so we can find a path to resolve all sorts of problems in God’s words. When I look back on how I returned before God, I see that everything God did to me contains God’s painstaking effort. Thank God for His great love that allowed me to become a wise virgin and attend the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Does the Trinitarian God Exist?

By Liu Jie

I was born into a Catholic family, and for as long as I can remember, my mother would tell me, “We must honor the Lord. Before we read the Bible, we should first cross ourselves saying ‘In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.’ The Father is the God in heaven who created the heavens, the earth and all things, the Son is the Lord Jesus, and the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the God of the Trinity.” What my mother said left a deep impression on my heart as if they had been branded there. Every night my parents and I would kneel down devoutly before the picture of the Lord, chanting scriptures and worshiping the Lord. After I grew up, I saw the Bible saying, “and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him. And behold a voice from heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:16–17). In these verses it mentions that when the Lord Jesus was baptized, the Father personally bore witness that the Lord Jesus was His beloved Son. Since the Lord is the beloved Son, doesn’t this mean that He is the Son of the Father? Therefore, I was even more convinced that God is a Triune God.

One day in July, 2012, I went to the home of Wang Mei, a friend from church, where I met her cousin, and I was very happy to learn that he was also a Catholic. After exchanging pleasantries, he shared with me the good news of the Lord’s return and told me that the Lord was speaking new words and performing new work and that He had revealed all mysteries, which completely fulfilled the prophecies in the Book of Revelation. At first, I was very surprised by what he said, but through listening to his detailed fellowship, I felt what he said was reasonable and was in line with the prophecies in the Lord’s Prayer. I then decided to investigate the way because I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to welcome the Lord. As I was leaving, he gave me a book which contains the new words expressed by the Lord. I gladly accepted it, feeling as though I’d found some precious treasure.

When I got back home, I impatiently opened that book and began to read: “The Work in the Age of Law,” “The True Story Behind the Work of the Age of Redemption,” “The Age of Kingdom Is the Age of Word,” “All Is Achieved by the Word of God,” “Knowing the Three Stages of God’s Work Is the Path to Knowing God” … I saw that this book revealed all the mysteries of God’s past work as well as those in the Book of Revelation. Although I had believed in the Lord since childhood, I didn’t really understand the work that God did in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Today through reading these words, I came to understand that in the time of the Old Testament, the God Yahweh issued the law to lead the Israelites in their life on earth, allowing people to know what sin was, how to make offerings after committing sins, and how to worship God. In the late Age of Law, people were unable to conquer their sins, facing the danger of being executed by the law, and they needed an eternal sin offering. In order to save mankind, the Lord Jesus offered Himself up to the cross and redeemed humanity from sin, and so the work of the Age of Grace began. Although those who believed in the Lord had gained an eternal sin offering, their sinful nature had not been eliminated, and they were still living a life where they committed sins during the day but then confessed them at night. Therefore, according to the needs of us mankind, God has carried out in the last days the work of judging and cleansing people through His word to save us utterly from sin and to finally lead us into our beautiful destination. The three stages of work complement one another and are closely linked together, and if any of them were omitted, then the result of saving man would not be achieved. I had never heard the priest or any believer in the church say such things, and neither our prayer book nor the Bible contains them. I was so deeply drawn by these words that I read them every day after breakfast and sometimes would even forget to make lunch. At night, I would read the book and didn’t put it down until midnight. In order to deepen my impression and memorize God’s words, I would write down the essential parts on a notebook.

One day, I came across a piece entitled “Does the Trinity Exist?” Shocked, I answered in my heart with certainty, “Of course it does! This is without doubt.” But then a question arose in my mind: Why does this book ask that? So I continued reading to find out. I then came upon these words: “For the triune God simply does not exist. That is, the Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit simply does not exist. These are all conventional notions of man, and the fallacious beliefs of man.” These words made me feel really uncomfortable and I thought: “I’ve believed in the Trinitarian God for almost my entire life. Every time before and after reading the Scriptures, I would make the sign of the cross and say ‘In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.’ And we have conducted our faith in this way for generations. So how come this says that the Trinity does not exist? If that’s the case, then won’t my faith in the Lord all my life be in vain? Could it be that I have believed in something incorrectly?” I felt really puzzled about this and was in no mood to do anything, nor did I want to read that book anymore. In distress, I hurriedly kneeled down in front of the picture of the Lord and prayed in tears, “O God! Am I right to accept this stage of work? I’ve always believed that God is the Triune God, but this book says the Trinity does not exist. I cannot accept this. But the words in this book sound authoritative and tell me Your will as well as all the mysteries of the Bible that I didn’t understand, and they’ve also solved many of my difficulties that I failed to resolve in the past, making my heart feel very enlightened. Now I don’t know what I should do. If this is really Your new work, I ask You to enlighten and guide me and show me the right path.” After pondering it over and over, I wasn’t willing to give up, so I again picked up the book to read. When I still felt confused, I would go to read the Bible or pray in tears before the picture of the Lord, afraid that I would start believing in something that wasn’t true. That night, I tossed and turned, unable to sleep, and I kept reflecting about whether or not the Trinitarian God really existed. But no matter how I thought about this, I couldn’t come up with any answers, so I expected that my church friend would come so that I could ask him what exactly was going on.

A few days later, Ms. Zhang came to visit me commissioned by Wang Mei’s cousin, and she asked me with concern: “Ms. Liu, how do you feel about the book that we gave you?” I said, “I feel the words within it are very good. But it says that the Trinitarian God doesn’t exist, which is different from what I believe in. It is clearly recorded in the Bible: ‘And Jesus being baptized, forthwith came out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened to him: and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him. And behold a voice from heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’ (Matthew 3:16–17). And in Matthew 28:19 it says: ‘Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.’ These scriptures all mention the idea of the Father and the Son, so doesn’t this demonstrate that God is the Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? Besides, we have prayed and crossed ourselves in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for generations, and have never doubted it. So why does this book say that the God of the Trinity does not exist? I just couldn’t understand it. If the Trinitarian God really doesn’t exist, then won’t my faith in the Lord all these years be in vain?”

Smiling, Ms. Zhang said, “To figure out whether the term the Trinity is valid or not, we must first know when it came to be. In fact, the Old Testament never mentioned that God is the Triune God. It was after the Lord Jesus became flesh on earth that the idea of the Father and the Son was created. Especially when they saw the Lord Jesus call God in heaven Father as He prayed, people then believed that there was a God the Father in heaven. After the Lord Jesus was resurrected and returned to heaven, people later extrapolated from what was written in a number of places in the Scriptures that there was a Trinity, and there then appeared different views on whether God is the one and only true God or the God of the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Based on what is written, in the more than three hundred years after the Lord, in the First Council of Nicaea, religious leaders from every nation had a debate over the oneness of God versus the multiplicity of God, and in the end they came up with the term for God of the Trinity, assuming that aside from Jesus the Son, there also existed a Father and Holy Spirit in heaven. This term has continued on since that day. This is how the idea of the Trinity we often talk about came to be.”

Ms. Zhang went on to say, “It can be seen that the theory of the Trinity is something that humans extrapolated based on their notions and imaginations and that it is simply incorrect. Actually the Lord Jesus’ words told us long ago that the saying of Triune God didn’t stand up to scrutiny. It is recorded in the Bible that because Philip didn’t know the essence of the incarnate God, he believed there was a Father in heaven while Jesus was the Son on earth and that God the Father and Jesus were two Gods, so he asked the Lord Jesus to show him the Father. The Lord Jesus, however, corrected his mistake, saying that the Father was in Him and He in the Father. From this we can see that the Father is the Son and the Son is the Father and that They are one and are inseparable. If we think Jesus is the Son and that there is a God the Father in heaven, then isn’t that making the same mistake as Philip?”

Ms. Zhang’s fellowship had me utterly convinced. I nodded in agreement, saying: “After hearing what you said today, I now understand that God and Jesus are actually one God and that Jesus didn’t acknowledge there was a God the Father in heaven at all. But there is still something I don’t understand: Since the Father and the Son are one God, why did the Lord Jesus call God in heaven Father when He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane?”

Ms. Zhang then replied, “We can find the answer to your question in the words of God. Let’s see what God’s word says, ‘When Jesus called God in heaven by the name of Father as He prayed, this was done only from the perspective of a created man, only because the Spirit of God had put on an ordinary and normal flesh and had the exterior cover of a created being. Even if within Him was the Spirit of God, His exterior appearance was still that of a normal man; in other words, He had become the “Son of man” of which all men, including Jesus Himself, spoke. “Our Father in heaven….” He asked all men to call God in heaven by the name of Father. And since He too called Him Father, He did so from the perspective of one who stands on an equal footing with you all. … His addressing God (that is, the Spirit in heaven) in such a manner, however, does not prove that He was the Son of the Spirit of God in heaven. Rather, it was simply that His perspective was different, not that He was a different person. The existence of distinct persons is a fallacy! Prior to His crucifixion, Jesus was a Son of man bound by the limitations of the flesh, and He did not fully possess the authority of the Spirit. That is why He could only seek the will of God the Father from the perspective of a created being. It is as He thrice prayed in Gethsemane: “Not as I will, but as You will.” Before He was laid on the cross, He was but the King of the Jews; He was Christ, the Son of man, and not a body of glory. That is why, from the standpoint of a created being, He called God Father.’ From God’s words we can understand that when the Lord Jesus called God in heaven by the name of Father, He was doing this from the perspective of a created man, but it does not prove that He was the Son of God in heaven. Before the Lord Jesus was crucified, He was the Son of man, the Christ, not the embodiment of glory. So, when He called God in heaven Father from the perspective of a created being, or to put it another way, when the incarnate God called the Spirit in heaven His Father from the perspective of the flesh, this demonstrates the Lord Jesus’ humbleness and obedience.”

After listening to Ms. Zhang’s fellowship, my heart was brightened, and I said, “Turns out that when the Lord Jesus prayed to God in heaven as the Father, He was doing this from the perspective of the flesh, which is to say, from the perspective of one who stands on an equal footing with us. The Lord Jesus is too humble. Yet His praying this way does not prove that He is the Son of God. But there is something I still don’t quite understand: Why did God in heaven call the Lord Jesus His beloved Son?”

Ms. Zhang then explained with patience, “As for this question, God’s words have made it very clear. Let’s read another passage of God’s words together. God says: ‘There are still those who say, “Did not God expressly state that Jesus was His beloved Son?” Jesus is the beloved Son of God, in whom He is well pleased—this was certainly spoken by God Himself. That was God bearing witness to Himself, but merely from a different perspective, that of the Spirit in heaven bearing witness to His own incarnation. Jesus is His incarnation, not His Son in heaven. Do you understand? Do not the words of Jesus, “I am in the Father, and the Father in Me,” indicate that They are one Spirit? And is it not because of the incarnation that They were separated between heaven and earth? In reality, They are still one; no matter what, it is simply God bearing witness to Himself’  (“Does the Trinity Exist?”).

“Before, when we saw in the Bible that when the Lord Jesus was baptized, a voice from heaven said, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased,’ we thought God was saying that Jesus was His Son. Only through reading God’s words did we realize that this is simply our notions and imaginations. Back then, when the Lord Jesus was doing His work on earth, what people at that time saw was the flesh of God. If the Holy Spirit had directly testified that the incarnate Lord Jesus was God, it would have been difficult for people to accept, because people at that time had no concept of God becoming flesh, nor did they know that such an average-seeming Son of man was actually the embodiment of God’s Spirit, the appearance of the God Yahweh in the flesh. Even though the Lord Jesus said the kingdom of heaven was at hand, brought people the way of repentance and manifested many miracles, fully revealing God’s authority and power, people still failed to recognize from the Lord Jesus’ word and work that the Lord Jesus was God Himself; they only acknowledged that the Lord Jesus was one of the prophets or called Him Master. Therefore, according to the stature and understanding of people at that time, God testified that the Lord Jesus was His beloved Son from the position of the Spirit, allowing people to see that the Lord Jesus was indeed from God—that way fit in better with people’s conceptions, and made it easier for people to accept the Lord’s salvation. But the idea of the Father and the Son was only appropriate for the years when the Lord Jesus became flesh. After He left, there was no longer any Father and Son.”

I said happily, “I understand more clearly through you fellowshiping this way. It was actually according to the stature of people at that time and to make it easier for them to accept the Lord Jesus’ salvation that God testified the Lord Jesus as His beloved Son. My previous understanding was too absurd. If God hadn’t come back and expressed the words to remedy my mistake, I wouldn’t be able to understand the truth even if I spent a lifetime of faith.”

“That’s true,” said Ms. Zhang. “How about we fellowship more about the truth regarding whether the Triune God exists?” “OK,” I nodded and said. “I have believed in the Triune God for many years, so it’s hard for me to completely understand this aspect of truth all at once. Please share more fellowship with me.”

Ms. Zhang then opened the book and handed it to me, saying, “Please read this passage of Almighty God’s words.” I took the book and read, “What is the Holy Father? What is the Son? What is the Holy Spirit? Is Jehovah the Holy Father? Is Jesus the Son? Then what of the Holy Spirit? Is not the Father a Spirit? Is not the essence of the Son also a Spirit? Was not the work of Jesus the work of the Holy Spirit? Was not the work of Jehovah at the time carried out by a Spirit the same as Jesus’? How many Spirits can God have? According to your explanation, the three persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one; if this be so, then there are three Spirits, but to have three Spirits means there are three Gods. This means that there is no one true God; how can this kind of God still have the inherent essence of God? If you accept that there is only one God, then how can He have a son and be a father? Are these not all simply your notions? There is only one God, only one person in this God, and only one Spirit of God, much as it is written down in the Bible that ‘There is only one Holy Spirit and only one God.’ Regardless of whether the Father and the Son of which you speak exist, there is only one God after all, and the essence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit you believe in is the essence of the Holy Spirit. In other words, God is a Spirit, but He is able to become flesh and live among men, as well as to be above all things. His Spirit is all-inclusive and omnipresent. He can simultaneously be in the flesh and in and above the universe. Since all people say that God is the only one true God, then there is a single God, divisible at will by none!” (“Does the Trinity Exist?”).

Ms. Zhang went on fellowshiping, “Through these words of Almighty God, we understand that there is only one God, only one Spirit of God and that God is the one true God and is not divided between different persons. If it is as we used to say, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the Trinity of one God, then there are three persons, which means there are three Gods and that there is no one true God. We should know that from the time of creation until now, regardless of whether it is God working through the Spirit, rescuing the Israelites out of Egypt and proclaiming laws to guide the people’s lives, or the Spirit of God being realized in the flesh and nailed to the cross as the eternal sin offering for our sins, or God being incarnated in the flesh again in the last days, coming into the world to express the words and do a stage of work of judging, purifying and saving us mankind, allowing us to thoroughly break free from the binds of sin, these three stages of work are all done by one God. From this we can see that God is able to create the world, to lead mankind, to redeem the entire humanity, and moreover, to completely save all mankind. He is in the heavens and also on the earth; He is on high above the universes and among the multitude. There is only one God in heaven and on earth and, at all times, God can only be called the almighty and one true God. Therefore, the idea of the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that we used to hold is simply untenable.”

Hearing this, I was so excited and said, “Almighty God’s words explain it very clearly. Now I finally understand the idea of the Triune God I have believed in for all my years is simply out of my conceptions and imaginings. God is the one and only God. Thinking about it now, we can see that, from the Age of Law to the Age of Grace, there was no ancient prophet or disciple of the Lord who once mentioned God was the Triune God, and neither did I ever see such a saying in the Bible all these years. But I actually held this idea for so many years based on my logic and imagination. I was so foolish and ignorant!”

Ms. Zhang said, “If it were not for the words expressed by Almighty God, how could we humans understand it?”

“Yes, thanks be to God!” we all said with one accord.

Afterward, through a period of reading the words of Almighty God and leading the church life, I became certain about God’s work of the last days.

What Is the Incarnation?

Question 1: In all my years of faith, despite knowing that the Lord Jesus is God’s incarnation, I didn’t understand the truth of the incarnation. If the Lord’s appearance in the second coming is similar to how the Lord Jesus was incarnated as the Son of man to do His work, then we’ll be unable to recognize the Lord Jesus, we’ll be unable to greet the Lord’s coming. I believe that the incarnation is a great mystery. Few are able to truly understand the truth of the incarnation. Please commune with us on this issue, what exactly is the incarnation.

Answer: Pertaining to what is God incarnate, and what is the essence of God incarnate, it can be said as the mystery of the truth that we believers of the Lord fail to understand. For thousands of years, despite believers knew that the Lord Jesus was the incarnation of God, no one could understand what God incarnate and His essence are respectively. It was only until the advent of Almighty God in the last days that this mystery of the truth was unfolded to mankind. Let’s read a few passages of Almighty God’s word: “The meaning of incarnation is that God appears in the flesh, and He comes to work among man of His creation in the image of a flesh. So, for God to be incarnated, He must first be flesh, flesh with normal humanity; this, at the very least, must be true. In fact, the implication of God’s incarnation is that God lives and works in the flesh, God in His very essence becomes flesh, becomes a man” (“The Essence of the Flesh Inhabited by God” in The Word Appears in the Flesh).
