Outside of the window, dawn was just breaking; the clock on the wall said it was 5 a.m. As usual, Yang Qing opened her eyes—it has become a kind of her routine to wake up at this hour. She looked at her sleeping daughter Su Ya, who had just come back from a trip to hear sermons last night, and then slid out of bed as quietly as possible in order not to wake her. After getting washed, she walked into the study and made a prayer to the Lord, and then she opened the Bible and started reading in a low voice: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
