Jesus Will Come Like a Thief in the Night: How Will This Prophecy Come True?

Jesus Will Come Like a Thief in the Night: How Will This Prophecy Come True?

By Mily, United States

Exactly how will the Lord come?

I remembered that our pastor often said, “The Lord will come soon, so we should wait watchfully. When the Lord comes, He will descend on a cloud to take us into the kingdom of heaven.” At that time, most of my brothers and sisters approved of his words. However, I felt puzzled about his view that the Lord Jesus will descend on clouds, for I saw these words of the Lord Jesus in the Bible: “Behold, I come as a thief” (Revelation 16:15). “If therefore you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come on you” (Revelation 3:3). The Lord Jesus’ words clearly told us that He would come like a thief. That is to say, people are completely unaware. However, won’t everybody see Him if He returns descending on the clouds? What is that really about? This question was always a puzzle to me.

What Does the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Mean?

By Xiang Yang, United States

Luke 24:1-9 say, “Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said to them, Why seek you the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spoke to you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words, And returned from the sepulcher, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.”

What Is True Faith in God?

God says, “Though many people believe in God, few understand what faith in God means, and what they must do to conform to God’s will. This is because, though people are familiar with the word ‘God’ and phrases such as ‘the work of God,’ they do not know God, and still less do they know His work. No wonder, then, that all those who do not know God are muddled in their belief of Him. People do not take belief in God seriously, and this is entirely because believing in God is too unfamiliar, too strange for them. In this way, they fall short of God’s demands. In other words, if people do not know God, and do not know His work, then they are not fit for God’s use, and still less are they able to satisfy His will. ‘Belief in God’ means believing that there is a God; this is the simplest concept as regards believing in God. What’s more, believing that there is a God is not the same as truly believing in God; rather, it is a kind of simple faith with strong religious overtones. True faith in God means the following: On the basis of the belief that God holds sovereignty over all things, one experiences His words and His work, purges one’s corrupt disposition, satisfies the will of God, and comes to know God. Only a journey of this kind may be called ‘faith in God.’ Yet people often see belief in God as a simple and frivolous matter. People who believe in God in this way have lost what it means to believe in God, and though they may continue to believe until the very end, they shall never gain God’s approval, because they tread upon the wrong path. There are still those today who believe in God according to letters and in hollow doctrine. They do not know that they lack the essence of belief in God, and they cannot receive God’s approval. Still they pray to God for blessings of safety and sufficient grace. Let us stop, quiet our hearts, and ask ourselves: Can it be that believing in God really is the easiest thing on earth? Can it be that believing in God means nothing more than receiving much grace from God? Are people who believe in God without knowing Him or who believe in God and yet oppose Him really able to satisfy the will of God?”

How to Truly Believe in God: 4 Steps

Believing in God, many people think belief in God means that when in trouble, we pray and rely on God, asking Him for help, and that we zealously sacrifice and work for the Lord. But they don’t know what true faith in God is, nor do they know God or His work. This kind of faith is a muddled faith that will never earn God’s praise! God clearly specifies the true meaning of belief: “True faith in God means the following: On the basis of the belief that God holds sovereignty over all things, one experiences His words and His work, purges one’s corrupt disposition, satisfies the will of God, and comes to know God. Only a journey of this kind may be called ‘faith in God.’” God’s these words make the truth of faith in God so clear! To believe in God is actually to believe in the word of God, that is, to experience God’s words and work. Only in this way can we understand the truth and have a true understanding of God. This is true belief in God. In religious circles, people only talk about how to work and suffer for the Lord, but they don’t preach how to practice and experience the Lord’s words. So, we can neither understand the truth nor even know God no matter how many years we believe in the Lord. If we believe in God like this, how can God acknowledge us! The Lord Jesus said, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity” (Mat 7:22-23). This shows that we believers in the Lord sacrifice and work for Him according to our own will, we do not practice or experience the Lord’s words; not only does this kind of faith not obtain God’s approval, it’s also condemned by God.

Jonah 3 – Nineveh Repents

(Jonah 3:1-4)

And the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying,Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the preaching that I bid you.So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Don’t Become a Doubting Thomas in Welcoming the Lord

We are now in the final phase of the last days, and at this crucial time of greeting the Lord, there is a growing sense of urgency in the hearts of Christians praying for the Lord Jesus to return. Many people anxiously hope for the Lord to come with clouds, but the great disasters will soon be upon us and we still haven’t seen the Lord coming with clouds. Why is that? Could it be that we have deviated in our practice to greet the Lord’s coming? This puts me in mind of Thomas in the Bible. While the Lord Jesus worked in the flesh, Thomas always harbored doubts, and in his heart he did not believe that the Lord Jesus was Christ. When Thomas heard that Jesus had resurrected, he still did not believe it. He had to see the Lord’s spiritual body with his own eyes before he would believe, and in the end the Lord pronounced His judgment: “[B]ecause you have seen Me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29). The story of Thomas is a warning to each and every one of us who yearn for the Lord to return. If we rely only on our eyes and do not seek the truth with regard to greeting the Lord, would we not be committing the same mistake as Thomas? If we did that, we would be apt to lose our chance to be caught up before the disasters. It is therefore clear that if we want to greet the Lord, then it is absolutely crucial that we understand the root cause of why Thomas failed in his faith in God and avoid walking the same mistaken path as Thomas! Let us fellowship and explore this issue below.
