The Kingdom of God Is Not in Heaven but …

At the mention of the kingdom of heaven, we will imagine there will be fields of gold and walls of jade and doors of pearl, full of yearning for it. The Lord Jesus once promised: “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). So, we all long to be raptured into heaven and realize our dream of the heavenly kingdom when the Lord returns. But is the kingdom of heaven really in heaven as we imagine?

Where Is the Kingdom of God? In Heaven or On Earth?

Question: The Lord has promised to us, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). We know that the Lord has prepared a place for us in heaven. When He’s back directly to the kingdom of heaven, we’ll go. So if the Lord has returned, I truly wonder why we are still here and not in heaven.

The Mystery in the Lord’s Prayer: Is the Kingdom of God Really in Heaven?

The Lord’s Prayer says, “Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10). What can we see from the two verses? Some people say that they see within them the hidden mysteries of the kingdom of God, and that the Lord’s Prayer tells them where the kingdom of God is.

Many Christians believe the kingdom of God is of course in heaven, but we see that God’s kingdom is on earth from the two verses above and the verse in revelation 11:15, “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ.” So, is the kingdom of God in heaven or on earth?
