In What Way Does the Lord Appear to People in the Last Days?

Seeing this title, some people say that when the Lord returns, He will publicly descend on a cloud and directly rapture us into the kingdom of heaven. In fact, besides the way of the Lord’s returning among clouds, there is another way of the Lord’s return in the Bible prophecies, that is, He will become flesh as the Son of man and descend in secret. For example, “Behold, I come as a thief”(Revelation 16:15). “ Therefore be you also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes.” (Matthew 24:44). “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in His day. But first must He suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24-25). These prophecies mention the Lord’s second coming “as a thief”, which shows that He will come quietly. “The Son of man” refers to the incarnation of God. That is to say, in the last days, the Lord will be incarnated as the Son of man and come before man’s awareness. If it were the resurrected spiritual body of the Lord Jesus descending publicly with the clouds, it would be incredibly powerful. Everyone would drop to the ground and no one would dare resist. In that case, would the returned Lord Jesus still endure a lot of suffering and be rejected by this generation? Definitely not. That is why the Lord Jesus prophesied that His return shall be “the coming of the Son of man” and “as a thief.” It is referring to God incarnated as the Son of man arriving in secret.

In the Last Days, Is It Easy for God to Save People by Appearing as the Spirit, or as the Incarnate Son of Man?

The words of God say, “God’s saving of man is not done directly using the method of the Spirit and the identity of the Spirit, for His Spirit can neither be touched nor seen by man, neither can man draw near. If He tried to save man directly using the perspective of the Spirit, man would be unable to receive His salvation. If God did not put on the outward form of a created man, there would be no way for man to receive this salvation. For man has no way of approaching Him, much as no one was able to go near the cloud of Jehovah. Only by becoming a created human being, that is, only by putting His word into the body of flesh that He is about to become, can He personally work the word into all who follow Him. Only then can man personally see and hear His word, and moreover enter into possession of His word, and by this means come to be fully saved. If God did not become flesh, no one of flesh and blood would be able to receive such great salvation, nor would a single person be saved. If the Spirit of God worked directly in the midst of mankind, all humanity would be struck down, or else, with no way of coming into touch with God, they would be completely carried away captive by Satan.

Welcoming the Lord’s Return: You Ignore This Way of the Lord’s Return

Now, many people are bearing witness online that the Lord has returned. Hearing such news, some people say, “Has the Lord returned? But the Bible records that the Lord will come on a cloud and all people will see Him. Now we have not seen the Lord’s advent with clouds. How could you say that the Lord has returned?”

In reality, as for the Lord’s return in the last days, there is not only the way of descending on a cloud but also the way of coming secretly in incarnate flesh. And this view has many bases on the Lord Jesus’ prophecies in the Bible, such as “Behold, I come as a thief” (Revelation 16:15), “Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not” (Luke 12:40), and “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in His day. But first must He suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24-25). As we all know, “As a thief” means coming quietly, secretly. The phrase the Son of man refers to One who is born to a human and lives among men in the image of an ordinary and normal person. Within the Son of man is the Spirit of God and He is actually the Spirit of God becoming clothed in flesh, just like the Lord Jesus. Jehovah God is Spirit, so He cannot be called the Son of man. The spiritual body of the Lord Jesus after the resurrection cannot be called the Son of man either. Therefore, “the coming of the Son of man” refers to the Lord’s return through the incarnation in the last days. Just as God says, “This time around, God comes to do work not in a spiritual body, but in a very ordinary one. Moreover, not only is it the body of God’s second incarnation, it is also the body through which God returns to the flesh. It is a very ordinary flesh. You cannot see anything that makes Him stand out from others, but you can gain from Him previously unheard-of truths. This insignificant flesh is what embodies all the words of truth from God, undertakes God’s work in the last days, and expresses the whole of God’s disposition for man to understand.

Will Jesus Come Back in the Spiritual Body or in the Flesh When Taking His Believers?

By Shi Li

Nowadays, the last days have arrived. I believe that the brothers and sisters from different denominations are all paying close attention to the return of the Lord Jesus. The Lord once promised us: “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). For this reason, we are all eagerly expecting that the Lord will come again to bring us into the kingdom of heaven. However, with regard to the means of the Lord’s return, each denomination has a different understanding of it. There are mainly two points of view. Some denominations believe that as the Lord left in a spiritual body, then when coming to rapture us, He will certainly appear to us in a spiritual body. But, others hold a different idea. They believe that the Lord will reveal Himself to us in the form of flesh when coming back. Anyway, in what form the Lord will return is related to whether each of us Christians can be raptured. Therefore, we must make it clear, so as not to be abandoned by the Lord.

How Are the Prophecies of Jesus’ Second Coming Fulfilled?

By Gan Wei

My co-worker Wang Shaojun has just moved into his new home. After settling in, he called a few of us co-workers there to have a gathering. On the appointed day, we got his home one after another. Wang Shaojun’s cousin Zhang Xiangming, who is also a Christian and has believed in the Lord for many years, was also present. We were all glad to meet together. However, the moment we took out our Bibles and were about to fellowship, we heard police sirens outside. Everyone was a bit shaken.

A Discussion About the Signs of the Lord’s Return

By Lin Hua

In the church, Pastor Zhu who wore a suit and leather shoes was standing at the pulpit, with a Bible in his hand. He preached: “Brothers and sisters, the prophecies of the Lord’s return in the Revelation have basically been fulfilled. We shall be watching and waiting. Now is the time that the Lord comes again, so we must keep our meetings no matter how weak we are.”

How to Understand “I Come as a Thief” in Revelation 16:15

How the Lord Will Come

Speaking of how the Lord will come in the last days, most brothers and sisters will go by the Bible verse: “[T]hey shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30), and believe that the Lord will definitely come in the clouds in His resurrected spiritual body with glory. But there are still some people who are perplexed about this statement, because Revelation prophesied, “Behold, I come as a thief” (Revelation 16:15). “If therefore you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come on you” (Revelation 3:3). The Lord said plainly that He would come as a thief. So to speak, He would come at a time unknown to people. If the Lord came in the clouds, wouldn’t everyone see Him? If so, how would the prophecy of the Lord coming as a thief be fulfilled? This is a mystery to many people. Now, let us have a fellowship on these problems.

What Is the True Meaning of “Jesus Coming in Glory” in Matthew 24:30?

After a Bible study meeting, Pastor Huang left hurriedly, clutching the Bible under his arm. Several other co-workers and I began to talk about today’s meeting. Sister Li looked thoughtful and said: “Brothers and sisters, all these years we have been waiting to welcome the coming of the Lord. According to what the pastors say, we watch and pray, look up to the sky, and wait for the Lord to come upon white clouds with great glory and to take us up into the kingdom of heaven. But year after year, disasters become ever greater. The four blood moons have appeared. Yet, why haven’t we seen the Lord come upon the clouds with great glory? These days, I have been thinking: Is the way we are waiting for the Lord right? If it is wrong and we miss the Lord’s return, then isn’t our belief in Him all in vain? I attended the wedding ceremony of my niece yesterday and heard several brothers in the Lord talking in a low voice. They said the Lord has returned to flesh and is doing a stage of new work of judging man and purifying man through His words …”

Devotional Diary: The Lord’s Return – Upon the Cloud or in Flaming Fire?

April 11, 2017

Recently, I felt increasingly dull and tedious in reading the Bible, for there was no light at all. Although I had kept praying every day all along, it had little effect and there was no moving in my spirit, and I felt as if the Lord hid His face from me and didn’t heed me. But while thinking of not reading the Bible, I felt scared. For in the past over ten years, my greatest wish was to be taken into the kingdom of heaven by the Lord when He returned; if I didn’t persist in reading the Bible, I feared that my relationship with the Lord would be severed completely and I would be abandoned when the Lord came.
