1 Peter 4:14 – God Is With Us

If you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests on you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

– 1 Peter 4:14

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

This verse strengthens our faith to follow the Lord. In this dark, evil generation, people relish the sin and very few of them have a love for the truth. Therefore, we are ridiculed, abused, slandered and persecuted by the world. However, we should not lose faith in the Lord, for the Lord Jesus said, “If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:18-19). “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:10). When we are persecuted or humiliated, we should not think it is a shameful thing, for we suffer alongside Christ. This is God’s blessing coming upon us. Therefore, we should understand God’s will, maintain our faith and loyalty to Him, and bear resounding testimony of overcoming Satan for God. Only such people share both in Christ’s kingdom and in His tribulations.
God says, “Those who God refers to as overcomers are those who are still able to stand witness, maintain their confidence, and their devotion to God when under the influence of Satan and under siege by Satan, that is, when within the forces of darkness. If you are still able to maintain a heart of purity and your genuine love for God no matter what, you stand witness in front of God, and this is what God refers to as being an overcomer.”
